One of Oprah Winfrey’s favorite poets is Maya Angelou, who has expressed the experiences and challenges that African-Americans have faced in her works.

When I read about Phillis Wheatley, who was brought to Boston as a slave and became the first African-American poet in the history of the United States, I wondered if Angelou is the reincarnation of Wheatley.

In a session with Kevin Ryerson, Ahtun Re agreed with this proposed match.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

Physical Resemblance from One Lifetime to Another: Though the number of portraits of Phillis Wheatley is limited, in some images of Maya Angelou, a resemblance can be seen.

Innate Past Life Talent: Phillis Wheatley’s gift for prose is reflected in the works of Angelou.

Renewal of Relationships through Reincarnation: In my books Return of the Revolutionaries and Born Again, Oprah Winfrey is identified as the reincarnation of James Wilson, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and a scholar of English literature.

Phillis Wheatley lived during the American Revolution; George Washington and Thomas Paine were admirers of her work. Washington even invited Wheatley to his home after she wrote a poem about him.

As James Wilson resided in Philadelphia, it may be that Wheatley and Wilson never met in person. It is very likely though, that Wilson appreciated her poetry, much as Oprah admires the prose of Angelou.
