Alf Pritchett’s Experience of Death in WW I and of the Afterlife or Heaven: A First Hand Account through the Direct Voice Mediumship of Leslie Flint

Article by: Walter Semkiw, MD

Source: Communication from the deceased in this case was facilitated through the direct voice mediumship of Leslie Flint. George Woods and Betty Green were present during tape recordings of Flint’s mediumship sessions and they asked questions of the deceased, who spoke in their own natural voices. Neville Randall reviewed these recordings and summarized the dialogues in his book, Life After Death. Dialogue in the article provided below has been slightly edited to make it more concise.

Session of 11/4/60: Alf Pritchett describes his Death in World War I and his Existence in the Afterlife:

The Death of Alf Pritchett

Scene: Trenches of WW I in Belgium

“My name is Alf Pritchett. It must have been 1917 or 18. We were under heavy bombardment all day. Then in the early morning we were given the command to go over the top.

‘Well,’ I thought. ‘This is it boy.’ And I must admit it took all I’d got to really get myself over the top.

I was running forward. Some of the Germans were coming towards me. They rushed past me as if they didn’t see me! I thought, ‘God, this is it.’

But instead of them attacking me or in any way taking any interest in me, they rushed straight past me!

I thought, ‘Well, Good Lord! I can’t make this out at all.’

Alf Doesn’t Realize that He was Killed

I went on. I can remember running and running and I thought, ‘Well, if they’re not going to see me I’m certainly not going to bother about them. I’m going to get into a little cubby hole somewhere and get out of it.’

I remember getting into a hole created by a bomb. I got into this hole and just crouched down and thought, ‘Well, I’ll wait until this is over and hope for the best, I might get taken prisoner. Who knows?

I was lying there thinking to myself, ‘Well, it’s damn odd they didn’t see me. They must have seen me. Yet they went straight past.’ And I started to think about it. And I thought, ‘Well, I don’t know.’

Alf’s Deceased Friend Billy Smart Escorts Him to Heaven

I don’t know how long I was in that hole. I thought I must have fallen asleep. I thought I should have felt stiff having slept in a bomb crater but I was not uncomfortable at all. I felt light as a feather

The next thing I knew is that I saw a bright light in front of me. It was as if the whole place was illuminated, so dazzling I could hardly look at it.

I saw the outline of a shape or figure appearing that gradually took shape. It was a human being full of luminosity. I recognized the person as an old friend who had been killed months before, whose name was Billy Smart.

IISISReincarnationResearchTunnelofLight72CI went towards him as if I was drawn like a magnet. Billy looked wonderful, full of vitality and life with a wonderful color on his face. As I got near him it dawned on me that he was dead.

He sort of held out his hand. I felt a bit daft in a way because I knew it’s natural to shake hands, but there was me in a dugout shaking hands with someone who was dead. It put me in a cold sweat and I thought, ‘Well, what’s going on here? I must be dreaming or something.’

I could hear him speak and he says: ‘All right, nothing to worry about. You’re all right mate. Come on.’

Anyway, I got hold of his hand and suddenly there was us sort of a floating–I can’t say I was doing anything else but floating with my feet off the ground–going gradually higher and higher as if everything was getting further and further away.  And I could see in the distance down below the battlefields, the guns and the lights and the explosions. The war was obviously still going on. And I thought: ‘Well, this is the most peculiar dream, this is.’

Alf Enters a Luminous City

The next thing I remember was sort of gradually coming in sight of what appeared to be a big city. It was luminous. It is the only way I could describe it. The buildings had a sort of glow about them.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I suddenly felt my feet touching the ground again. Most peculiar. It felt solid. I remember walking on what appeared to be a long avenue, and on each side were beautiful trees, and between every other tree or so there was a sort of statue. And on the sidewalk people were going about in a most peculiar sort of dress.

They were looking as they might have been Romans or Greeks or something you see in pictures. And there were beautiful buildings with pillars and beautiful steps leading up to them. Mostly flat-roofed, by the way. I don’t remember seeing any roofs or gables like one sees in England. And this sort of glow coming from them. All sorts of people there were, and horses.

Billy Informs Alf that He is Dead

Bill was talking away at me. ‘Of course, You know what’s happened to you?’

‘What’s happened to me? All I know is that I am having a good time here. It’s better than being down there in that lot. I shall be sorry to wake up.’

He says, ‘Don’t worry. You aren’t going to wake up.’

‘What do you mean, I’m not going to wake up?’

‘You’ve had it, chum.’

‘What do you mean I’ve had it?’

‘You’re dead.’

‘Don’t be silly,’ I says, ‘How can I be dead? I can see all that’s going on around me. I can see you. But I know you died some months ago. You may be dead, but I’m dreaming.’

‘No you aren’t. You really are dead.’

‘What?’ I says, ‘’You don’t mean to tell me this is heaven?’

‘Well, not exactly. But it’s an aspect.’

Billy brings Alf to a Reception Center

Anyway, to cut a long story short, we went up this nice, very pleasant road in this beautiful city, and we came to a sort of hill. And right in front of me I could see what looked like a beautiful building. ‘What’s that place?’

‘Oh,’ he says. ‘You’re going there to meet some of your old friends. That’s what we call a reception center.’

‘A what?’ I says.

‘Like a kind of a hospital.’

‘Well,’ I says, ‘I don’t want to go to a hospital. There’s nothing wrong with me. I’m all right. And in any case I can’t get this at all.’

‘Don’t worry,’ he says. ‘Don’t tax your brain too much at the moment. It’ll come to you later. Just relax and enjoy yourself.’

‘Well,’ I said. ‘I’m doing alright. It’s a darn better than being down there.’

So we got to this place. We went in. There were all sorts of people there. But what struck me as odd was that they were dressed much the same as many people I had known, the way I used to dress myself. Suits and that sort of thing.

I never seem to remember seeing the Sun, yet there seemed to be plenty of light. And big windows. And people sitting around talking. There were tables and chairs. I didn’t see any beds, and I thought this is a strange hospital, yet it isn’t a hospital I suppose.

The Deceased can Enjoy Food in the Afterlife

Everyone seemed to be quite bright and cheerful. Some were talking, and others were eating, and that struck me. I thought, ‘Well, I’ve got him here. He says this is part of heaven. They shouldn’t be eating. So I says, ‘Look. They’re eating over there.’

‘Ah,’ he says. ‘What you don’t realize is that when you come here, you feel it’s essential to do certain things. If you feel it’s essential to eat and drink, you can.’

I sat down around a table with several other blokes.

‘Just arrived?’ they says.

‘Yes.’

‘We heard you were coming,’ says one.

‘What do you mean? You heard I was coming? You don’t even know me.’

‘Well, that’s what you think,’ he says. ‘We have our scouts out, you know. Helpers. I was helped in the same way. I’ve only been here a short time myself.’

‘Oh,’ I said. ‘Settling in?’

‘Yes. Very nice. Much better than what they used to tell us down there, isn’t it?’

‘Tomorrow,’ he added, ‘I’m going to see my grandparents.’

So I says, ‘Oh, where are they?’

‘I’ve been told, they,’ he says, ‘that they’re on this plane, as they call it here, but further out. I’m being taken there.’

‘Very nice. Who’s taking you there?

‘My guide.’

‘Guide?’

‘Yes. There’s a nice fellow here. Like one of the stewards I suppose you’d call them. And he’s found out a little about my background and my people and he has been given the job of escorting me. By the way, did you notice when you came here how odd it was? How light you felt? The sort of floating feeling?’

‘Yes, it did feel a bit strange.’

‘Well, that’s the way we’re going. We’re not going to walk. We’re sort of going to…I suppose some people would call it flying. You seem to have taken to it all right.’

In the Afterlife, You Judge Yourself

‘What else can I do?’ I says. ‘You’re told you’re dead. The best thing to do when you’re dead, I should think, is to follow instructions and behave yourself. After all, you never know who’s going to be judging you and all that.’

‘Ha,’ he says, “No one judges you. From what I can make out, you judge yourself. Since I’ve been here, I’ve been reflecting. Going back a bit on the old past, and wondering and thinking about things. The only thing is to judge yourself. After all, it’s your conscience. I’ve got one, and so have you, I bet. We all have.’

‘As far as I remember,’ I says, ‘the only thing I ever really did wrong was drowning the cat. Oh, and once I had a pint of beer and never paid for it because there was a crowd in there, and forgot about it and never offered it. I don’t see anything terribly wicked about that.’

‘You’ll be alright,’ he says. ‘Don’t worry.’

‘I’d like to go back,’ I says, ‘and see my people, and see how they are getting on. I wonder if they’ve heard about me being dead?’

‘If you want to go back,’ he says, ‘it can be arranged. One of those fellows who is in charge here can probably arrange it. Of course, it’ll only make you miserable, I should think. Because they don’t take a blind bit of notice of you. And then what? You can go back and knock on the wife’s door. Or you can go and bang on the old parson’s door, and he won’t take a bloody bit of notice of you, because he’s blind as a bat like the rest of them.’

Alf meets his Sister Lilly, who Died before Alf was Born

Eventually the time came when this friend who’d brought me here came over to me and says: ‘I want to show you something.’

So I says, ‘All right, mate,’ and I went with him.

He took me down a street. Past very attractive houses with little balconies and beautiful flowers. Down to the end of the street and out into a big square. With a big fountain playing in the middle. I could hear music. Smashing, wonderful music. And I thought, ‘This is real nice.’ It reminded me of the old days when I used to sit in the park and listen to the band.

We sat down on a little bench under a beautiful tree.

‘You’ll find this restful,’ he says. ‘You just sit there, I’ll leave you for a little while and come back to you.’

I sat there with my eyes closed listening to the music. Then, all of a sudden, I had a feeling there was someone sitting next to me. I opened my eyes and looked and there was a beautiful lady. Beautiful blonde hair she had and looked about nineteen or twenty. I was really taken aback.

She called me by my name. I thought, ‘Well that’s funny, she knows my name, but I don’t know her!’

‘Are you finding it nice here?’ she asks.

‘Very nice,’ I says. ‘Thank you miss.’

‘You don’t have to call me miss. Don’t you know me?’

‘No. I don’t know you.’

‘My name is Lilly.’

‘Lilly? I don’t know any Lilly.’

‘That’s not surprising, in a way. I’m your sister. I died when I was an infant.

‘Golly, I says,’ I remember my mother talking about a little girl who died when she was only a few days old. But you can’t be her. You’re all grown up.’

‘That’s right,’ she says, ‘I’m your sister. I died as an infant and I’ve grown up over here.’

‘Well, it beats me.’

‘I’m going to look after you now that you are here. I’m going to take you home.’

‘Home?’ I says.

‘Yes, home.’

‘Oh.’

She took me out of the square down a broad avenue, lined with trees. We branched off, went down a slope and out into the countryside. Gradually we arrived at a small cottage. The nearest thing I’d seen to cottages at home in England. She stopped at a small place with its own garden with a little gate, a porch and a door. Plenty of lovely flowers, I noticed.

We went in. Off a little passage was a little room, all very cozy and comfortable. Nice chairs. No fireplace.

‘I see you don’t have fireplaces here,’ I said.

‘No,’ she said. ‘We don’t need fireplaces because it’s always warm and pleasant.’

‘That’s nice isn’t it. You don’t get any rain?’

‘No, we don’t have any rain. But we have dew sometimes.’

We sat there talking. About my mother and father and brother that I still had on Earth. She said she often went to see them, and me when I was on Earth, from infancy. She’d been with me all through the war years. She couldn’t–wasn’t with me when I died. But she got everything ready for me, knew I would be coming and that I’d be brought.

I thought, ‘Oh, this is nice.’ Then I thought, ‘Well, I don’t know, it’s strange.’ But I settled in and stayed with my sister. And perhaps I’d better come another time and tell you more about it.

‘I’m told my time is up. I must go. Bye, bye.’

Alf Prichett and Billy Smart are Identified through Military Records

Neville Randall researched British war records to try to see if he could confirm the identities of Alf Pritchett and his friend, Billy Smart. Neville was successful. Their identities are provided below:

Trance Medium Kevin Ryerson and the Spirit Being Ahtun Re

A medium is an individual who has the God-given gift of being able to communicate and work with spirits. Most founders of major religions were mediums.

I have been blessed to work with Kevin Ryerson, a world-famous trance medium, who has been featured in the four of Shirley MacLaine’s books. The way that Kevin works is that he goes into a meditative state or a trance, much like sleep, and he allows spirit beings to use his vocal cords to speak to human beings. I have worked with Kevin monthly since 2001.

Kevin channels a spirit guide named Ahtun Re who has demonstrated the ability to make past life matches with a high degree of accuracy. When Ahtun Re communicates though Kevin, Kevin’s voice, accent, facial expressions and mannerisms change. Ahtun Re has an engaging sense of humor. Though Kevin is well read, Ahtun Re has an encyclopedic fund of information, which neither Kevin nor I possess.

Ahtun Re not only can control Kevin’s vocal cords, he can control Kevin’s entire body. When Kevin has led transformational travel tours to the Peruvian archaeological site of Machu Picchu, Ahtun Re would have Kevin put on a blindfold and then lead Kevin’s tour group on narrow cliff paths.

Ahtun Re has shared that he is a product of human evolution and that his last incarnation was about 3500 years ago in ancient Egypt, where he was a military general under the Pharaoh Akhenaten. Ahtun Re has related that when his family was killed by an enemy force, he renounced violence and became a priest in the temples of Egypt.

The Physical Mediumship of Daniel Dunglas Home | Uri Geller

A different kind of medium is a physical medium, who facilitates the ability of spirit people to manipulate energy and matter.  One of the most famous physical mediums in history is Daniel Dunglas Home (pronounced Hume), who produced the movement and levitation of physical objects, including levitating himself.

In my work, it has been revealed that Home reincarnated as Uri Geller, who is the most famous physical medium of contemporary times. Uri is perhaps best known for spoon bending. Both Home and Geller were studied by the eminent scientists of their day. These scientists observed the movement of physical objects of Home | Geller under laboratory conditions and these scientists concluded that the phenomena that Home and Geller produced were genuine.

When I asked Ahtun Re why Home and Geller were able to produce these incredible phenomena while the vast majority of people cannot, Ahtun Re told me that it was because of the high-level energy field that the soul of Home | Geller possesses. Both Home and Geller have claimed that they had no knowledge or understanding of how the phenomena they produced occurred. Home and Geller concluded that these phenomena were orchestrated by spirit beings, though they did not know who these entities were.

The reincarnation case of Daniel Douglas Home | Uri Geller, which is supported by Uri Geller, is featured in my book Born Again.

Uri Geller: “The Hair Just Went Up on the Back of my Neck”

I am proud to share that when I telephoned Uri to inform him that through my work with Kevin, he had been identified as the reincarnation of D. D. Home, he told me: “The hair went just went up on the back of my neck.” After a couple weeks of considering the past life match, Uri accepted that he is the reincarnation of Home and Uri gave me permission to include the Home | Geller case in my Born Again book. It gives me great pleasure to be able to relate that I made the hair go up on the back of the neck of one of the world’s greatest and most famous psychic mediums.

The Physical and Direct Voice Mediumship Leslie Flint

As such, I was particularly interested when I found out about the work of Leslie Flint, who has been proclaimed as the most gifted direct voice medium in history. In contrast to a trance medium, like Kevin Ryerson, where spirits utilize the medium’s vocal cords to communicate with human beings, a direct voice medium is able to use his or her life energy to allow spirit beings to communicate in their own natural voices through an energetic device, an energetic voice box or amplifier, a device that allows spirits to speak to human beings directly.

Physical mediums generally do not work alone. They work with a group of people who are harmonized in intent and purpose who share their own life energy to augment the physical medium’s life energy. It is like a sports team that supports their star player to accomplish a goal. This group of people interested in supporting the medium meet in what are called séances or circles. They sit in a circle to help spirits communicate through the person in the circle who has the greatest gift, or energy, as a medium.

Most people who have been involved in séances or in these circles have identified themselves as Spiritualists, as they are motivated to allow the spirits of deceased people to communicate with the living. Ectoplasm is a term Spiritualists use to describe the life energy produced by a physical medium.

The photograph provided to the right features the physical medium Einer Nielsen (1894-1965). The white mesh-like material around Nielsen’s neck and draped over his lap is identified as ectoplasm. Academic professors researching Nielsen are seen holding his arms to ensure that Nielson was not using a sleight of hand, or trick, to produce his phenomena. Click on the image to enlarge it.

Leslie Flint’s Childhood and the Emergence of Psychic Gifts

Leslie Flint’s development as a physical medium was not smooth. In his autobiography, Voices in the Dark: My Life as a Medium, Flint, who grew up in poverty in England during World W I, describes how he unexpectedly and naively developed his powers as a physical medium. He tells his story in an extremely humorous fashion. There are not many books that I have read that have made me laugh out loud, but this is one of them.

Let me share an experience that Flint had when he was sitting in the circle of a Spiritualist named Ms. Cook, who had reason to believe that Leslie Flint had the potential to become a world-class medium, though Flint himself found this hard to believe. Ms. Cook told her circle that she was guided by a highly advanced spirit named Shu-Shu, who was once incarnate as a very high priestess in an ancient Egyptian temple dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis.

After Leslie, at a height of 5 foot and 2 inches, was sitting in Ms. Cook’s circle for over a year, unexpectantly, Ms. Cook herself fell into a trance. Her spirit guide Shu-Shu then spoke through Ms. Cook and said that she would demonstrate a sacred dance ritual that she, Shu-Shu, had performed as a high priestess in ancient Egypt.

The Egyptian Spirit Guide Shu-Shu Performs a Dance through Ms. Cook

In his autobiography, Leslie Flint describes the scene:

“Ms. Cook was far from being a sylph, she was broad in the beam and her bosoms were of Earth Mother proportions.

In trance, this substantial figure rose from her chair and moved to the center of the circle where she began to dance.

She gyrated her hips and weaved her arms, the while chanting what sounded gibberish to me but was acclaimed enthusiastically by the others as ancient Egyptian. The bounteous bosoms flopped alarmingly as the dance grew more energetic, first to one side and then to the other, and the arms kept weaving like tentacles of a busy octopus.

I wanted to look away, I was embarrassed for Ms. Cook, but try as I might my eyes were glued to the spectacle.

I knew it would happen, I tried desperately to stop it, but I started to giggle, at first subdued by sheer will power to a series of choked hiccups, but as the gyrating and weaving and the flopping went on I completely lost control of myself and I laughed and laughed until the tears streamed down my face.

The more shocked and angry the other members of the circle looked, the more I laughed until at last Ms. Cook came out of her trance and with a look which withered me to ashes sat down in her chair again.

Later, when Ms. Cook saw me to the front door to bid me good night it was no surprise to me that she said, quite kindly, under the circumstances, ‘I really think, dear, you are still too young and perhaps too excitable to continue your development at present. It would be best if you didn’t come here again.’ She opened the door and I saw it was raining heavily outside…

But kind, forgiving Mrs. Cook, to soften the blow she had dealt me, put her arms around me with the obvious intention of giving me an affectionate farewell kiss. I was touched by her generosity but, reluctant to be pressed to that bounteous bosom, I stepped aside and with all the gaucherie of my 17 years trod heavily on her foot.

‘Right on my corn, you clumsy oaf!’ she cried in agony, and mumbling apologies I went out into the night in the rain…

I had made my decision. I would give up the whole business of trying to be a medium.”

Leslie Flint’s Parents Abandon Him and Young Leslie Spontaneously Experiences Clairvoyance

Leslie at 4 Years of Age with his Mother and Father

Let us start from the beginning regarding the development of Leslie Flint’s physical mediumship. Flint was born in 1911 in England. His father left the family when he was a young child and his mother, who preferred partying with male companions, left Leslie to live with her mother. As such, Leslie was raised by his maternal grandmother in conditions of poverty.

His first psychic experience occurred when he was 7 years old, during World War I. Leslie was in his grandmother’s kitchen when his aunt walked in crying, sharing that her husband Alf had been killed in the war. Leslie had never met Alf. A soldier accompanied Nell carrying Alf’s possessions. Leslie then saw a second soldier walk in who appeared very sad, who started pulling on Aunt Nell’s sleeve to get her attention, though Nell seemed to be completely unaware of this man. Suddenly, the man completely disappeared. Later, when Nell showed Leslie a photograph of Alf, Leslie recognized him as the sad soldier who was tugging at Nell’s sleeve. When Alf revealed this to Nell and his grandmother, both told Leslie that he was lying. When Leslie persisted in saying this is who he saw, his grandmother gave him a “clout” to punish him for telling untruths.

In another incident, when Leslie came home from school, he heard voices in the kitchen. One voice was that of his grandmother and the other was a woman’s voice who he did not recognize. When Leslie went into the kitchen he saw his grandmother silently sewing and standing by her side was a woman with a large mole on her chin. This woman with the mole then vanished.

When Leslie asked his grandmother what happened to the woman she was talking to, she replied that she had been all alone that afternoon and that Leslie was imagining things. When Leslie mentioned that the woman had a large mole on her chin, his grandmother clouted him again. She then revealed that the woman Leslie was describing was Ms. Pugh, who had been buried a month before. Leslie learned not to talk about vanishing people. The psychic gift of being able to see spirit people is called clairvoyance.

Leslie Flint Enjoys Praise from his Teacher, Mr. Lewis

In his autobiography, Flint admitted that he was a poor student, but one class in which he excelled in was art. His schoolmaster, Mr. Edwin Lewis, recognized Leslie’s talent and encouraged his development as an artist. Mr. Lewis had served in the trenches of World War I where he suffered a poison gas attack that caused lung injury which resulted in him to having a hacking cough for the rest of his life. When he died, Mr. Lewis was given a military funeral.

Leslie becomes a Fan of Silent Movie Star Rudolph Valentino

When Leslie was 12 years old, he found a job doing housework. With the money he earned, he and his grandmother would go to the movies, which Leslie loved. Rudolph Valentino was one of their favorite silent movie stars. In two of Valentino’s most famous movies, The Sheik and The Son of Sheik, he played the part of an Arab. A colorized photograph of Valentino in his sheik costume is provided to the right.

At age 13, when unemployment was high in post-war England, Leslie Flint was fortunate to find a regular job as a groundskeeper in a cemetery. His supervisor, Mr. Hobbs, was a very thin, elderly man who was a know-it-all who Leslie reported wagged his “boney finger” to emphasize the wisdom of his statements.

When Leslie was 15 years old, three important events happened in his life. One was the death of his hero Rudolph Valentino, who died at the age of 31 due to complications from perforated stomach ulcers.

The second incident occurred while Leslie was doing his work chores at the cemetery. Unexpectedly, he found the grave of his dear teacher, Mr. Edwin Lewis. Leslie saw that the grave was neglected, so he trimmed the plants around the headstone and placed flowers on the grave. Later that day, his supervisor was discussing Spiritualists. Mr. Hobbs dismissed Spiritualists, noting that their endeavors were a waste of time. He shared that his own wife was planning to attend a Spiritualist meeting that very night at the Quakers Friends’ Meeting Place. Hobbs told his wife: “Them Spiritualists are after your money, you silly cow!”

Leslie had heard about Spiritualists, but he never had the opportunity encounter any of them. He decided to attend the meeting that night.

At Age 15, Leslie Flint attends his First Spiritualist Meeting, Where Mr. Lewis and Rudolph Valentino sends Him Messages

Ms. Anne Johnson was a well-known trance medium who was the headliner at the gathering. Leslie sat in the back of the room near the door, so that he could quickly escape the Spiritualists if he found the proceedings bizarre.

Ms. Johnson, on the stage, appeared to have fallen asleep in her chair. Leslie was astonished when this sleeping woman stood up and started speaking in a deep male voice. Leslie wondered if Ms. Johnson was a man masquerading as a woman. In actuality, Ms. Johnson was in a trance and she was channeling a deceased man who gave a discourse on Life Eternal.

Next, Ms. Johnson came out of trance and spoke in her own, natural, pleasant feminine voice. She told a woman in the audience that her deceased husband was standing next to her and that he wanted to convey that he no longer had the terrible pain in his chest that occurred just before he passed away. Ms. Johnson gave a detailed description of this woman’s husband, which the woman indicated was accurate.

Next, Ms. Johnson pointed straight to Leslie and said: “I want to speak to the young man in the back row.” Leslie was “petrified” by this and hoped she was referring to some other young man, but looking around, he realized he was the only young man in the vicinity.

Ms. Johnson then told Leslie: “There is a man here who wants to thank you for the flowers you put on his grave this morning. He tells me he was a schoolmaster and his name was Edwin Lewis. Do you understand this?  He was given a military funeral.” Ms. Johnson also gave an accurate physical description of Mr. Lewis.

Ms. Johnson then said that in addition to Mr. Lewis, there was an Arab standing next to Leslie, who, she said, was serving as a spirit guide to Leslie. She added that this spirit guide was not really an Arab, but rather someone who dressed as an Arab.  Ms. Johnson revealed that this Arab fellow wanted Leslie to develop as a medium to be of service to humanity. Ms. Johnson concluded by saying: “In the not too distant future, you will be doing the same kind of work as I am doing and you will become a very famous medium.” This was the third important thing that happened when Leslie was 15 years of age.

Leslie was impressed by Ms. Johnson’s knowledge of his tending to the grave of Mr. Lewis, but he was baffled by her statement that he would become a famous medium, as he was not aware of having psychic gifts, other than the two instances when he saw vanishing people as a child. Still, he became a regular at the Spiritualists meetings. One evening, a woman, who witnessed Ms. Johnson’s proclamation that Leslie was to become a famous medium, asked what he was going to do about it.  Leslie replied: “Nothing, I’m not psychic, so what can I do about it.?”

The woman responded that she hosted a circle, that is seances, at her home. She invited Leslie to join her group. This woman was Ms. Cook, who previously stated that she was guided by the exalted spirit named Shu-Shu, who was described above.

Rudolph Valentino sends a Message to Leslie through an Woman in Germany

That night, after meeting Ms. Cook, Leslie went home to find a letter addressed to him sitting on his grandmother’s kitchen mantelpiece. The letter had a German postage stamp on it. Leslie knew no one in Germany.

Reading the letter, Leslie found that it was from a woman in Munich who had been sitting in a Spiritualist circle for some years. In a recent session, the resident medium said that a spirit was present who identified himself as Rudolph Valentino. This spirit gave the woman Leslie’s name and address in England and asked her to write to Leslie to convey the message that Leslie must develop his mediumship to be of service to mankind. Leslie then realized that it must have been Rudolph Valentino who Ms. Johnson was referring to when describing the spirit who was dressed as an Arab.

Leslie reflected that how could this woman in Germany know his name and address, since he was an unknown, poor boy in post war Britain. In the end, Leslie concluded that the dead could indeed speak through mediums.

Leslie’s Spirit Helpers Upend a Heavy Table to Demonstrate Leslie’s Psychic Powers

This letter strengthened Leslie’s resolve to attend Ms. Cook’s home circle. After he arrived, the six attendees were seated around a large, heavy table. The lights were dimmed and after ten minutes a loud rap was heard from the center of the table. Ms. Cook said the rap meant that the spirits were ready to communicate. The procedure for spirit communication in this circle was done by one member of the circle going through the alphabet and the spirits would rap on the table to indicate when a letter was pronounced that they wanted to use. By doing this repetitively, the spirits could spell their messages.

One message was a question, asking the circle members if they would like to see how much greater the power of the circle had become due to Leslie’s presence. Everyone indicated that they would. Suddenly, the large, heavy table reared up and stood on one end. Leslie couldn’t believe his eyes. The spirits then communicated that they would be working with Leslie to help him develop as a direct voice medium.

In the end, Leslie Flint became the most famous direct voice medium of all time, giving demonstrations of his mediumship in the largest halls in England. Flint encouraged serious investigators to test his direct voice mediumship. For example, he demonstrated his mediumship with colored water in his mouth and with adhesive tape covering his lips to exclude that the voices he produced came from his own, physical vocal cords. In addition, at the same time, his arms were either tied to a chair or held by associates, to exclude that he was manipulating any type of device.

Further, an infrared telescope or sensor was used by investigators to observe Flint while he was producing the direct voice phenomenon. Infrared radiation is produced by heat or energy sources. The infrared telescope showed the energetic or ectoplasmic voice box that spirits use to communicate. It was about two feet above and slightly to the left of Leslie’s head. This corresponds to Flint’s own perception of where the ectoplasmic voice box is located during his mediumship. Click on the images of researchers testing Flint to enlarge them.

At 60 years of age, Leslie Flint reflected that after 35 years of direct voice mediumship, he still did not understand how this phenomenon occurred. Some insight was provided during a mediumship session by a spirit who identified himself as the deceased French Physiology Professor Charles Richet, who served as the President of the Society for Psychical Research in London starting in 1905. Richet stated:

“Every living being has a substance known as ectoplasm which is a life force, and a physical medium has a great deal more of it than most people. During a séance this substance, which is sometimes referred to as the ‘power’ is drawn from the medium and fashioned by spirits who understand such matters into a replica of the physical vocal organs which is known as the ‘voice box’ or sometimes the ‘mask.’ The communicating spirit then concentrates his or her thoughts into this voice box and creates a frequency or vibration which reaches the sitters on Earth as objective sound.”

Leslie Flint Demonstrates his Mediumship while Scientists Observe the Ectoplasmic Voice Box Above his Head Using an Infrared Sensor

Professor Richet also pointed out that the communicating spirit must lower his or her own frequency to the lower one of the Earth and remember what his voice sounded like during its lifetime and recapture memories of happenings which will give proof of his or her identity to the person with whom the spirit wishes to communicate. If the communicating spirit is successful, the voice will sound like the voice it had while it was living on earth.

Light Interferes with the Use of Ectoplasm, hence Voices in the Dark

Most physical mediums must be in dark room for their mediumship to manifest. For reasons that are unclear, bright light interferes with the use of the medium’s life energy or ectoplasm. Perhaps darkness allows spirit beings to more easily perceive and thus use ectoplasm. This is why Flint’s autobiography is entitled, Voices in the Dark.

First Hand Descriptions of Heaven or the Afterlife

500 tape recordings were made of Leslie Flint’s direct voice mediumship in which deceased relatives spoke to their living loved ones in their own, recognizable voices. In addition to sharing memories with their living loved ones, these spirits also described, in detail, what their life in the spirit world is like. These tapes were reviewed by Neville Randall, who compiled descriptions of the spirit realms in his book Life After Death. These accounts are the most vivid descriptions of the spirit world that I have encountered and will be shared in subsequent articles.

Kundalini and Enlightenment-A Personal Experience, by Shai Tubali

Kundalini: God’s Mechanism of Redemption

I would like to start with a small, self-invented mythology, that contains a great truth. When God created the soul and sent it on its highly enriching, but agonizing journey of human incarnations, He knew that it would only be fair to equip it with some device that could enable it to salvage itself and return to Him one day. He was fully aware that the Earthly forces of gravity would overwhelm it, that the physical perils would imprint in it a deep clinging to the body and its survival instinct, and that the pleasures of the senses would ingrain in it a deep attachment to the bodily experience. He realized that He was taking a chance by sending it to the valley of endless forgetfulness called “Earth,” and that the distance separating the limited body and the infinitehood of cosmic consciousness was simply unbridgeable.

So, what could he do? In His wise mind, He envisioned a mechanism that could be implanted at the subtlest core of the human body. This would be a mechanism that could be powerful enough to overcome gravity and to disengage the soul from all mental, emotional and physical shackles. It should be able to signal to the soul that it is on the right path by imbuing it with the greatest form of unEarthly bliss. And it would be able to serve the soul as its ethereal aircraft with which it could fly all the way back to the heavens and be pulled to its original home; its true nature as infinite being.

As God was considering the options of an energetic structure that could perform such a miracle within the limited human body, one of the more creative archangels approached with the symbol of the caduceus, which one day would surface from the subconscious human mind in the form of the staff of Hermes and the symbol of medicine. It resembled the DNA strand, the inner encoding out of which all living beings were made. This structure, the angel advised God, would pull up all the Earthly energies through a single line and would spread and reactivate the soul’s wings so that it would remember it could fly.

God consented and ordered to construct this subtle body. He formed a complex net of energetic tubes with one central tube in their midst, which started at the base of the spine and culminated at the crown of the head. Within the base of this tube, He planted the seed of divine consciousness, a spark from His own mind. He knew that this spark would remain dormant as long as the soul would not be mature enough to achieve full self-awareness and to conduct the light of infinity while in the body.

With His boundless patience and love, He would wait for the moment in which the soul would awaken to the longing to return to its source. When that has happened, the spark He planted would be ignited at once and start its tireless mission to spiritualize the individual’s entire being, from dense matter into a self-revelation of one’s own hidden divinity.

Kundalini

Is this story a mere mythology? Perhaps there was no angel consulting God. Besides it is not a mythology at all. In fact, for the ripe soul that sincerely yearns for the divine, this subtle device is a living reality, which is not less tangible than the physical body and the experience of the senses. In the Yogic tradition, this device has been referred to as “Kundalini.” The experience itself, which is known to all esoteric traditions, is one and the same: the awakening of the spark of divine consciousness which gathers with it all the base energies and pushes them all the way upward, until it powerfully shatters the thin barrier that distinguishes man from infinity.

Short-term kundalini experiences can happen many times and to many people. Indeed, kundalini rises upward whenever we contemplate and meditate on spirit; whenever we are filled with spiritual longing and seek transcendence. Nevertheless, for the cosmic spark to attain complete satisfaction-and complete satisfaction can only mean that the spark has reunited with the undivided divine consciousness-a long and persistent process of increasing awakening is required, all the way to full illumination.

The Kundalini Awakening of Shai Tubali

When I was 20 years old, I experienced the initial urge for spiritual search. I did not truly understand what it was that I was seeking. It was more an intuitive attraction to the strange magic I had found in the aphorisms of Zen-Buddhism, as well as a hope to somehow overcome my social fears. My first significant step was taking a Transcendental Meditation course, in which I heard for the first time about Enlightenment as a union of the individual consciousness with the consciousness of the universe. Merely hearing that triggered an ancient pain of separation in my heart and I felt called to move toward that elusive state.

Shortly after, I traveled to India to abide in an ashram and to seek out those for whom the truth was not second-hand knowledge but a direct experience. Luckily, I encountered there my first teacher who, like me, was an Israeli. In India I learned for the first time-by reading a biography of Jiddu Krishnamurti, who had undergone an immense kundalini awakening at the age of 29-that enlightenment was not some mental insight but a profound and dramatic energetic transformation. With this understanding, extraordinary states-such as watching my body lying in bed from ceiling level and being awoken up at night to mysterious cosmic messages and energetic transmissions-began to convince me that I was entering the gates of the unknowable.

The Bliss of Kundalini Awakening

When I returned to Israel, I remained in contact with my first teacher and for two years I was constantly shifting from lonesome self-inquiry to spending time with him, and the other way around. Near the end of this period of two years, I attended a silent retreat held by one of his awakened student. As the silence grew more and more intense, I became overwhelmingly immersed in the bliss of the unified consciousness.

I would walk on my way to breakfast or to my cabin and, uncontrollably, would bump into this bubble-like, all-encompassing energy field of liberation and endless joy. My senses would withdraw, as if I became blinded to the world and capable of seeing and recognizing only this purity of oneness. This continued also after the retreat ended: Even on a busy street, I could be stopped by this mesmerizing beauty while the entire world would completely vanish into thin air. My mantra back then was the continuous sentence which seemed to run in my mind by itself: “Only consciousness is real and nothing else matters…”

These brief, yet immense awakenings were repeated more frequently by the time I joined a silent retreat of my first teacher. There, two days before my 23rd birthday, I attended my teacher’s birthday celebration. I was sitting somewhat distant, outside the circle of celebrators, and remained silent and still.

All of a sudden, I was struck by the clearest perception of what I used to consider “myself.” Looking within, there was no substantial center of identity. At that instance, I knew that the separate and individual consciousness was a mere illusion, and not even a very sophisticated one. Individual consciousness was just a bundle of memories that were artificially glued to one another in a way that they could create a phantom of psychological and continuous entity.

With this perception, kundalini awoke and began to rush throughout my spine. The dormant divine spark leaped to my third eye and the crown of my head. Kundalini broke free through the top of my head, out to the vast expanses of the cosmic mind. With great difficulty I dragged my astounded body away from the party and towards a narrow shoreline, and there kundalini graced me with a vision of my true nature.

Whatever I was looking at, was myself: the open sky, the rocks, the sea and the young men who played soccer on the beach, the universe as a whole existed solely as one, a limitless entity, and I was the universe and nothing besides. Waves of tears and laughter of recognition shook my body for some timeless long hours.

Two days later, on my birthday, I received from my teacher shaktipat, which is an energetic transmission of spiritual energy from a master. The purpose of shaktipat is to help the practitioner’s kundalini to rise.

This only deepened my already intoxicated state of self-forgetfulness. From this retreat onward, long months of tears and laughter began. A gushing universal love overwhelmed my chest, while kundalini was tirelessly emptying my being from familiar and personal feelings.

For hours on end I would sit immovable in an effortless and uninvited meditation. Holiness encompassed my small room. The divine element awoke to recognize itself, and all that was left of “me” was an awestricken witness. Nothing from what I read in books could prepare me for that; the reality of kundalini is endlessly far from mental constructs. For a full year, until the age of 24, I trod this path of indescribable silence where only truth could speak.

The Death of the Ego through Kundalini

Between the ages 24 to 26, the kundalini process, almost unbearably intense, took place. With a very young and unprepared nervous system and in the absence of sufficient guidance, this process turned into what is commonly known as a “kundalini crisis.” Put simply, for two years I felt that I was going to die. I repeatedly experienced my soul abandoning the body through the crown of my head. I went through many sleepless nights that were filled with unexplained phenomena. I experienced severe nausea and an extraordinary energetic vulnerability, in which I felt that no barrier remained to distinguish my own body from the rest of the world. Supernatural capacities came and left.

Nobody-no healer and no teacher-could grasp this process. My own teacher was dumbfounded, since he wasn’t a kundalini master. Fortunately, fate led me to meet my second teacher, a true American yogi, who generously took me under his wings. He consistently treated me with shaktipat, gave me Ayurvedic herbs and homeopathic essences, and calmly guided my exhausted being.

Being an initiate of a kundalini tradition (the Siddha Yoga tradition) himself, he finally made me conscious of this sophisticated divine device within. Through him, I also learned that even the powerful and clearly irreversible awakening that was shaking me to the root of my being was not enough. For liberation to be complete and the merging of the divine spark into the Godhead to be final, kundalini needed to remove many different types of blockages, including significant imprints from past-lives as well as the present life. Kundalini had to literally rewind the entire process of karmic becoming-to unravel deep-seated attachments, desires, angers and fears-until one’s being, from body to spirit, becomes sufficiently purified. Along the way, the evolution of my soul gradually revealed itself; the fundamental themes and lessons with which I had to meet from many lifetimes. At the same time, important learning and acquired capacities re-surfaced from my deepest past.

This process lasted, from the day of my awakening at the age of 23, onwards, for a period of ten years. By the age of 33 I could finally behold this divine mechanism fully awake within me, in ways that were as tangible as my physical reality. I could wholly and directly acknowledge the stream of subtle cosmic force throughout my spine; a stream that often felt like a gushing wild river. The correlation between this river-like flow and a complete unity consciousness and the dissolution of even the subtlest form of self, was undeniable.

When I reported this to my teacher, he surprised me by announcing that finally, my soul was approaching full liberation. In the yogic tradition, this is regarded as “Jivamukti,” which means that liberated soul exists while in a human body. I honestly could not grasp what he was talking about, but at the same time I could notice this river of eternal life surging inside me day and night, relentlessly melting away any sense of separation and individuality.

Time disappeared. Experience ceased. The thirst for life died out. There was no more personal story. My biography was interrupted like a book that ended in a middle of a sentence.

Kundalini as the Holy Spirit

Kundalini is not necessarily woken up directly and intentionally. It can awaken by itself, as a natural outcome of any expression of spiritual longing and a substantial ripening of the soul. That said, there are a variety of practices that can arouse this subtle force and lead it through our energetic spine.

Indirect kundalini awakenings can occur as a result of spending time in the presence of a true spiritual master (satsang); silent retreats and dark-room retreats as well as retreats of spiritual fasting and intense forms of self-inquiry or contemplation on spiritual truths. Direct kundalini awakenings may occur through the grace of shaktipat from a spiritual master or the practices of forest bathing (thanks to the unique kundalini-evoking power of trees) and meditative methods that work directly with this energy, such as the “Expansion Method,” which I have developed and taught for many years.

Spinal breathing-repeatedly breathing into the base of the spine, then throughout the spine and finally throughout the crown of the head-can be particularly effective. Practices that support the flow of kundalini are eating raw foods, forms of stretching like yoga postures, meditation in general, chiropractic and any other bodywork that correct and improve posture. It is strongly recommended to steer clear of any technique that attempts to force kundalini into an unnaturally quick and intense arousal.

When kundalini is aroused without coercion and within a conscious and supportive context, it is never violent or destructive. Its aim is one: creating the inconceivable-an awakened soul, which fully remembers its eternal and infinite nature while still within the confines of a limited and mortal body.

In such a state, there seems to be no difference between the hindu concepts of Shiva (the divine consciousness) and Shakti (the spark of kundalini within the individual human being)-or, as Jesus boldly declared as soon as his own kundalini was fully awakened, no real difference between the Father and the son, for the Holy Spirit, kundalini, brought them together into an eternally unbreakable oneness.

Addendum by Walter Semkiw, MD

I would like to share my own experiences with kundalini. When I was in college I had a desire to pursue meditation, though I cannot really say why. Like in Shai’s story, I took classes in Transcendental Meditation and was given a mantra to use in meditation. I did this regularly throughout my college years.

When I started medical school, I met an individual who stated that he had expertise in meditation and the awakening of kundalini. He taught me to do Chi Gong, which is a Chinese meditative practice in which one stands in a particular posture to activate kundalini. Each day, before I went to my medical school classes, I did this standing meditation for an hour. When I was doing this meditation, I would experience jolts in my spinal column. I wear glasses, and the more violent spinal jolts resulted in my glasses flying off my head and landing several feet behind me.

I did not have a significant spiritual experience until many years later. I have always had a love of music, but I do not have the fine finger coordination to play an instrument well. Instead, since I have always been a pretty good athlete, I expressed my love of music through dancing ballet. This hobby was enhanced by the fact that the majority of my fellow dance students were very fit and attractive women. My ballet career culminated in a performance with the full orchestra of the Denver Symphony. I still cherish that memory. Click on the image comparisons to enlarge them.

Years later, I became affiliated with a ballet company in San Francisco led by the choreographer Enrico Labayen. Though I was not a good enough ballet dancer to be in his troop, Enrico invited me to his dance company’s rehearsals. I loved watching talented dancers perform Enrico’s choreography. At rehearsals, I would have a book in my hand and as is my practice, I had a red felt marker or pen that I used to make notes in the books that I would read.

Enrico’s ballet company was rehearsing a dance that featured a female dancer who was lifted by male ballet dancers over their heads. The female dancer positioned her body in the shape of a cross. While I was watching this performance the red felt pen that I was holding suddenly and unexpectedly was juggled in my hands and as a result, I had to red marks on the inside aspects of both of my wrists, creating what seemed to be stigmata on my wrists. This event happened to occur on Easter Sunday in 1996.

I found this strange and baffling and when I stood up from a seated position I realized that my consciousness had been changed. I experienced complete bliss which lasted for about six weeks. I continued my work as a corporate medical director with no diminishing of function, but I was a changed person. I felt love for everything and everyone. At the time, I was going through a divorce which had become contentious, but in this state of consciousness, I wanted to do everything I could possibly do for the woman I was about to divorce. Though I was not in a financial position to do so, I even wanted to gift her the house that we had lived in.

As mentioned, this state of bliss lasted for six weeks and then it faded. I remember that at the time I was disappointed that this state of consciousness had disappeared and I wished that it would have lasted forever.

I believe this experience was prompted by my engagement in researching a past life of my own, in which Enrico Labayen was my son in a past lifetime during the period of the American Revolution. Further, a number of the dancers in Enrico’s company I determined were my relatives in that lifetime. This story is presented in detail in my book, Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited.

A brief overview of this past lifetime of mine is presented on the following page:

Temporary versus Permanent Results of Kundalini Awakening

As Shai Tubali described above, I believe that I had a manifestation of kundalini awakening. When I became acquainted with Shai, I wondered if his experience with kundalini was temporary or permanent. He replied with this statement:

“As a spiritual teacher, it is a part of my integrity to teach only that which is based on the permanent effects of the kundalini awakening. What started 19 years ago has only increased and deepened with time. The permanent effect is a continuous state of self-dissolution and an absorption in universal consciousness. This means that there is no experience as an independent ego, since the mind, heart and body function as a part of the whole. My self-identity is: “I am the universe”.

As such, I believe I had a temporary kundalini awakening which lasted six weeks. In contrast, Shai’s kundalini experience has been much more intense and has resulted in a permanent, rather than a temporary, change in consciousness.

Shai Tubali is the author of numerous books and he is a spiritual teacher based in Berlin, Germany. To learn more about Shai’s work, please go to:

Taylor Swift as the Reincarnation of Florence Reese and the Evaluation of Physical Resemblance over Time in Reincarnation Cases

Revealed by: Spirit Being Ahtun Re in a Ryerson-Semkiw Reincarnation Research Session

Article by: Walter Semkiw, MD

Due to Taylor Swift’s enormous popularity I asked for a past lifetime for her in a session with trance medium Kevin Ryerson, who channels as spirit guide named Ahtun Re who has demonstrated the ability to make past life matches with a high degree of accuracy.

Ahtun Re revealed that Swift was the Tennessee singer-songwriter Florence Reese, who wrote a song at age 12 which became famous and an anthem for the labor movement. This song, Which Side Are You On, was written to support coal miners who were on strike and this song went on to be performed by such legendary singers such as Pete Seeger and in more recent times, by Billy Bragg and Natalie Merchant. A video with Florence Reese and Natalie Merchant singing Which Side Are You On is provided at the bottom of this page.

Taylor Swift was a childhood musical prodigy, much like Florence Reese, as Taylor moved from Pennsylvania to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 14 where she became the youngest artist ever to signed by Sony/ATV Music.

Florence Reese was an activist who campaigned for labor unions and social issues. Taylor Swift has been an activist supporting women in politics, promoting getting the vote out, as well as campaigning against LGBT discrimination and hate crimes.

The only photographs of Florence Reese that I have encountered are those of Reese as an elderly woman. Still, one can discern a consistency of facial architecture between Reese and Swift. Indeed, I predict that when Taylor Swift herself becomes an elderly woman, she will resemble Florence Reese at a comparable age. Click on images to enlarge them.

Assessing Aging and Physical Resemblance in Reincarnation Cases

Observing development of appearance over time during the process of aging is a recent development in reincarnation research, as in the past, photographs from prior incarnations were rarely available.

A dramatic case in which we have been able to observe the development of appearance over a period of 20 years is that of James Leininger, who had vivid memories since childhood of being a World War II fighter pilot who died in a plane crash. A series of four image comparisons over this period of time shows how physical resemblance is maintained across two lifetimes through childhood, adolescence and adulthood. To learn more please go to the:

Physical Resemblance in Reincarnation Cases: Similarity in appearance between Reese and Swift is not obvious due to the difference in age of these two individuals in the featured images, but an overall consistency in facial architecture or bone structure can be appreciated.

Past Life Talent-Child Prodigies: The songwriting ability of Florence Reece has emerged in the talent of Taylor Swift.

The Reincarnation Case of Helen Keller | Malala Yousafzai and an Examination of Karma

Revealed by: Spirit Being Ahtun Re in a Ryerson-Semkiw Reincarnation Research Session

Article by: Walter Semkiw, MD

When Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Taliban on October 9, 2012 in retaliation for her efforts to promote education for girls and women in Pakistan, her heroism made the heart of the world embrace her and after her recovery, she became a world-wide celebrity.

I was curious about the soul of this girl who had the courage to defy the Taliban and in a session with trance medium Kevin Ryerson, I asked who Malala was in a past lifetime. Kevin channels a spirit guide named Ahtun Re who has demonstrated the ability to make past life matches with a high degree of accuracy.

I was surprised when Ahtun Re told me that in a past life, Malala was Helen Keller, who became blind and deaf after an illness, most likely meningitis, in infancy. Despite having these disabilities, Keller became the first deaf and blind person to earn a bachelor’s degree and went on to become an author and activist, promoting a woman’s right to vote, labor rights and anti-militarism. In sum, Malala is following in the footsteps of Helen Keller in being a champion for women and for greater world peace.

There are some advocates of reincarnation who assume that any misfortune a person suffers is the result of bad karma from a previous incarnation. I asked Ahtun Re why the soul of Keller | Yousafzai was born in such difficult circumstances in two lifetimes.

Ahtun Re explained that the soul of Keller | Yousafzai did so voluntarily, as this is a soul who is deeply committed to elevating the well-being of those who live challenging lives. Helen Keller led the revolution to humanize those born with devastating handicaps and to show how these individuals can lead productive and fulfilling lives. Malala has led the movement to give rights to women in Muslim countries where education and personal freedom for women have been severely restricted by cultural norms.

Ahtun Re specifically stated that Helen Keller being deaf and blind, as well as the assassination attempt on Malala, were not karmic in origin. Rather, these were circumstances that the soul of Keller | Yousafzai had chosen to make a positive impact on society.

To clarify further, the assassination attempt on Malala was not predestined. Rather, the soul of Keller | Yousafzai placed herself into a Muslim country where women’s rights were being unfairly limited to change that societal situation. Though the assassination attempt was not predetermined, Malala’s soul knew that there was risk in trying to change the status of women in the Islamic world.

Principles of Reincarnation-Understanding Past Lives

Physical Resemblance in Reincarnation Cases: The facial architecture of Helen Keller and Malala Yousafzai are similar. Click on the image to enlarge it.

Past Life Talent and Behavior: Helen Keller and Malala Yousafzai have both demonstrated courage in incarnating into difficult circumstances and have showed fortitude and intelligence in their missions to help enlighten the world.

Change of Religion and Nationality: Helen Keller was born in the United States and was a follower of the Swedish mystic Emanuel Swedenborg, who was Christian in orientation. In contrast, Malala was born into a Muslim family in Pakistan. If people knew that one can change religion and nationality from one lifetime to another, conflicts and wars based on these cultural markers of identity would be mitigated.

The Face of Sally Hemings-Mother of Thomas Jefferson’s Children: A Past Life of Annette Gordon-Reed

Proposed by: Walter Semkiw, MD

Affirmed by: Spirit Being Ahtun Re in a Ryerson-Semkiw Reincarnation Research Session

Article by: Walter Semkiw, MD

I purchased a couple of books recently on Thomas Jefferson in an attempt to better understand him. In my first book, Return of the Revolutionaries: The Case for Reincarnation and Soul Groups Reunited, it was confirmed that Jefferson was the father of the children of Sally Hemings, a mixed-race slave that he owned. This affirmation came through my work with Kevin Ryerson, who channels a spirit guide named Ahtun Re, who has demonstrated the ability to make past life identifications with a high degree of accuracy. Not only did Ahtun Re say that Jefferson was the father of the children of Hemings, some of these five children were identified in contemporary times. It was not revealed if Sally Hemings herself had reincarnated.

One of the books I bought is Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings: An American Controversy. On the back cover it is explained that the author, Annette Gordon-Reed, who is a Harvard law and history professor, makes the case that Jefferson and Hemings had a loving and trusting relationship. She also explains how early historians purposely obscured the truth regarding Jefferson’s paternity.

In reading this material I wondered if Annette Gordon-Reed, who is African-American, may be the reincarnation of Hemings. In a session with Kevin Ryerson, Ahtun Re affirmed that Gordon-Reed is the reincarnation of Sally Hemings. In writing her book, Gordon-Reed is rescuing the character of Hemings.

This is what I refer to as an “affinity case,” where an individual is attracted to their own past life persona. Other affinity reincarnation cases include:

The Reincarnation Case of Julius Caesar | Vladimir Putin: A Past Life Explanation for Donald Trump’s Affinity for Vladimir Putin

Proposed by and Affirmed by: Spirit Being Ahtun Re in a Ryerson-Semkiw Reincarnation Research Session

Article by: Walter Semkiw, MD

After the Donald Trump | Vladimir Putin summit in Helsinki, Finland, which took place on July 16, 2018, people in the United States have been wondering why Donald Trump is so friendly and respectful to Vladimir Putin, while Trump has been widely critical of leaders of traditional United States allies.

I myself found this perplexing, so in a session with Kevin Ryerson, who channels a spirit guide named Ahtun Re who has demonstrated the ability to make past life matches with a high degree of accuracy, I asked if there is a past life relationship between Trump and Putin that would explain their mutual admiration.

Vladimir Putin as the Reincarnation of Julius Caesar

Very much to my surprise, Ahtun Re told me that both Trump and Putin were Roman Emperors. Previously, Ahtun Re had affirmed that Donald Trump is the reincarnation of the Roman Emperor Nero. This made sense to me as both Nero and Trump have been characterized as being narcissistic individuals, who used their ability to manage major construction projects to enhance their impact on society. There is also a physical resemblance between Nero and Trump. Click on images to enlarge them.

I was shocked when Ahtun Re told me that the reason that Trump and Putin have affinity is that they both were Roman Emperors. I asked Ahtun Re what he meant. Ahtun Re told me that Putin was Julius Caesar, which I found incredible. I never made that association on my own. Ahtun Re also told me that I would see that the facial features of Julius Caesar and Putin would vividly correspond.

After that session, I found that a bust of Julius Caesar that did resemble Putin. To create image comparisons, I searched the Internet for images of Putin that I could use to demonstrate this resemblance. To my surprise, I found that someone else had already created an image comparison that I didn’t think I could improve on, which is provided below. I don’t know who created this image comparison, but I do seek their permission to use this image.

Julius Caesar was born in 100 BC and died in 44 BC, when he was assassinated. Caesar was very successful as a Roman military general. He later formed political alliances that dominated Roman politics for a generation, much like Putin has done in Russia. Caesar was the most famous Roman Emperor during the era of Jesus of Nazareth. If Jesus was born in what we now consider 0 AD and  crucified in 33 AD, that means that Caesar died 44 years before Jesus was born.  Julius Caesar was the most influential Roman Emperor of the era that Jesus lived in. That is why, when he was brought to trial, Jesus said, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.” Matthew 22:21

Nero, whose full name was Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, was born in 37 AD, just a few years after Jesus had died in 33 AD and 81 years after the death of Julius Caesar. Ahtun Re told me that Nero venerated Julius Caesar and he hoped to equal his hero in building Rome to new heights, much as Donald Trump has built a real estate empire. This emotional connection between Julius Caesar and Nero is the basis of Trump’s affinity to Vladimir Putin.

The cited reincarnation case involving Donald Trump can be reviewed at the page cited below:

Reincarnation Case of Nero | Donald Trump

Principles of Reincarnation-Understanding Past Lives

Physical Resemblance in Reincarnation Cases: There are strong physical resemblances between Nero | Donald Trump and Julius Caesar | Vladimir Putin.

Past Life Talent: Both Putin and Trump have become world leaders, much like Julius Caesar and Nero.

Relationships Renewed through Reincarnation: Nero idolized Julius Caesar and in contemporary times, Donald Trump has revered the power of Vladimir Putin, in accord with how Time magazine recently declared Putin as the most powerful man on our planet. In contemporary times, Nero and Julius Caesar have had a chance to meet.

George Clooney as the Reincarnation of Clark Gable and Amal Clooney as the Reincarnation of Loretta Young-As a Druze, does Amal accept Reincarnation?

George Clooney Reincarnation Case Proposed by: Ishtar Ishaya

Amal Clooney Reincarnation Case Proposed by: Walter Semkiw, MD

Affirmed by: Spirit Being Ahtun Re in a Ryerson-Semkiw Reincarnation Research Session

Article by: Walter Semkiw, MD

My intuitive friend of mine, Ishtar Ishaya, has proposed a number of reincarnation cases that have been confirmed by the spirit guide Ahtun Re, who is channeled through trance medium Kevin Ryerson. I have been working with Kevin since 2001 and over this period of time, Ahtun Re has demonstrated the ability to make past life matches with a high degree of accuracy.

Ishtar proposed that George Clooney is the reincarnation of actor Clark Gable. If that was the case, I wondered who Clooney’s wife, Amal, might have been in relation to Gable. I found that a fairly striking resemblance existed between Amal and the actress Loretta Young. Click on images to enlarge them.

Clark Gable and Loretta Young have a Child Out of Wedlock

Clark Gable and Loretta Young were the stars of the 1935 film The Call of the Wild. Gable was 34 years old at the time and Young was 22. During the production of this movie, Gable impregnated Young who later delivered a baby girl. Gable as married at the time. Though initially it was assumed that the two had an affair by mutual consent, Young later revealed that Gable forced himself on her.

One issue regarding the proposed match between Loretta Young and Amal Clooney is that Young died in Santa Monica in the year 2000, while Amal was born in Lebanon in 1978, an overlap of 22 years. If this case is valid, it would represent an example of what I call “split incarnation,” as the soul animates more than one body at a time.

There is evidence, including from the University of Virginia, that spilt incarnation does indeed occur. Ian Stevenson, MD, of the University of Virginia, called these “cases with anomalous dates,” as lifetimes overlapped. One the strongest cases that Stevenson published, which also involved suicide in the past lifetime, demonstrates split incarnation. To review this case, please go to:

Charles Parkhurst | Penney Peirce reincarnation caseReincarnation cases involving author Penney Peirce showed a 29 year overlap of lifetimes. To review these cases, please go to:

Split Incarnation and the Reincarnation Cases of Penney Peirce

In a session with Kevin Ryerson, Ahtun Re affirmed that George Clooney was Clark Gable in a past lifetime and that Amal Clooney is the reincarnation of Loretta Young.

Of interest, Amal’s father is of the Druze ethnic group, which accepts the doctrine of reincarnation. This raises the question of whether Amal believes or is at least open to reincarnation. A Druze reincarnation case has been posted on our website which gives an overview of the people and geography of Lebanon and Syria. To review this case, please go to:

Physical Resemblance in Reincarnation Cases: There are correspondences in facial features of Gable | George Clooney and Young | Amal Clooney.

Planning Lifetimes for the Renewal of Relationships: It has been reported that Clark Gable forced himself on Loretta Young, which resulted in her pregnancy. By reincarnating and becoming married in the personas of George and Amal Clooney, trauma from the relationship of Gable and Young can be healed.

Past Life Talent: The acting talent of Clark Gable shines forth in the career of George Clooney. Amal Clooney is an attorney, not an actress, but she is glamorous and is comfortable on the world stage, much as was Loretta Young.

Split Incarnation: As mentioned, the lifetimes of Loretta Young and Amal Clooney overlapped by 22 years, a phenomenon that I call split incarnation, which is also known by the older term parallel lives.

The Life and Death of the Hasan Hamed

Hasan Hamed was the only son of Mahmoud Hamed and wife Hniyye. He was born in about 1927 in the village of Era, in Syria, which lies halfway in-between the towns of Krayye and Sweida. His father died when he was still a boy and Hasan went to live with his maternal uncles in Krayye, where he worked as a farmer, caring for vineyards and tending cattle.

Hasan is a Druze: A Group that Accepts Reincarnation

Krayye is in the southern area of Syria known as Djeble Druze, which is populated by the Druze people, who are an Arabic ethnic group, whose religious beliefs include the doctrine of reincarnation. Hasan’s family were members of the Druze. An image of Druze men in traditional garb is provided above. Click on images to enlarge them.

The Syrian government at the time was controlled by the French and between 1925 and 1927, the Druze mounted a military rebellion against the French. The leader of the revolt was Sultan Pasha Atrash. Though this revolution failed, the Sultan became a hero to the Druze people. Though Hasan was born towards the end of this rebellion, Hasan would have known about Sultan Pasha Atrash due to his hero status among the Druze. Whenever the Sultan traveled around Djeble Druze, a group of supporters on horseback escorted him.

When Hasan was about 15 years of age, one of his cousins killed a Bedouin in the area. Bedouins are a group of nomadic Arabic people who inhabit the desert regions of North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq and Syria. The word Bedouin derives from the Arabic term “badawi,” which means “desert dweller.” These people are divided into tribes, who survive by herding goats and camels. Bedouins are easily recognizable due to the distinctive clothing that they wear, which is featured in the image to the right.

In the Bedouin culture of that era, when one of their members is murdered, the tribe must kill the murderer or a family member of the murderer.

Despite the danger that lurked, Hasan’s uncles asked him to take a flock of livestock from Krayye to the market in Sweida. A group of Bedouins ambushed Hasan along the road and threw him into the pit of a mill and then threw rocks down on Hasan’s body until it stopped moving. Hasan died on July 30, 1942.

His body was found three days later and it was noticed that there was a significant wound to the back of the head, though there were also wounds on both shoulders.

Hasan is Murdered in Syria and Reincarnates in Lebanon

Salem Andary was born in Fallujah, Lebanon on November 4, 1944, a little over two years after Hasan’s death. Fallujah is 15 miles east of Beirut, in the mountains of Lebanon. His father, a farmer, was Najm Andary and his mother’s name was Bahiyya.  Soon after he was born, his mother noted a prominent bump on the back of his head, which she considered a type of birthmark.

When he began to speak, Salem’s first words were “Bedouin,” “stones,” and “hit.” One of his first phrases was: “Sultan kills a lot.”

When he was four years of age, he gave a detailed account of a past lifetime. He said that his name was Hasan Hamed and that the lived in Krayye. Salem related that he was a friend of Sultan Pasha Atrash and described the power and status of the sultan. Whenever little Salem saw a group of policemen or soldiers traveling in a group, he would exclaim: “Sultan Atrash is coming.” This was a reminiscence from his past lifetime as Hasan, who had witnessed Sultan Atrash with his entourage.

Salem said that in his past lifetime, he was the only son of his parents. He said that his father had died. Salem shared that he had uncles and that he tended vineyards in his past life. These statements were correct for the life of Hasan Hamed. Salem also said that he used to keep a rifle behind a door of the house he lived in.

Salem Remembers his Past Life Betrayal and Death

Regarding his past life death, Salem stated that an uncle had killed a Bedouin and as a result, the Bedouins wanted revenge. One minor inconsistency is that it was reported that a cousin of Hamed had killed the Bedouin, not his uncle.

Salem related that after the death of the Bedouin, his uncles let him go by himself to take sheep from Krayye to the market in Sweida. Salem claimed in doing so, his uncles exposed him to certain death. Indeed, the murder of the Bedouin occurred at the time of year that animals are taken to market to be sold. As such, the Bedouins could be sure that a member of Hasan’s family would traveling along the road from Krayye to Sweida at the time thatHamed was ambushed. As such, his uncles had set up Hasan to be a sacrificial lamb to the Bedouins to atone for the killing of their Bedouin kin.

Salem stated that Hasan was riding on a horse when the Bedouins attacked him. He related that he tried to escape, but his horse slowed down and the Bedouins caught up with him. He related that he was hit on the back of the head with a club and that afterwards, the Bedouins then threw him onto the floor of a mill. He claimed that he was still alive at that time, but that the Bedouins then threw stones down on his body, which caused him to die.

Salem’s Past Life Nightmares

Salem had repetitive nightmares about his past life death that were always identical. These nightmares were often stimulated by the sight of Bedouins or Syrians. The nightmares would begin with a “feeling” of how his uncles had betrayed him and how the Bedouins had caught up to him. He would then have clear images of the scenes that led up to the death of Hasan Hamed. Salem would then wake up at the moment in which he relived the death of Hasan.

His parents would try to comfort him after his Bedouin nightmares. His mother found that she could only calm him by telling Salem that Sultan Pasha Atrash, pictured to the right, was coming. He was still having these nightmares about a half a dozen times a year even when he was 23 years old in 1968. Salem also experienced headaches when he thought about his past life.

Salem’s Bedouin nightmares are very similar to the nightmares of James Leininger, in which little James relived his death in a military plane crash during World War II. To review this case, please go to:

Reincarnation Case of James Huston, Jr. | James Leininger

Salem Acts as if He was Still Hasan, his Past Life Persona

When Salem was between four and five years of age, he would act as if he was still Hasan. When he saw someone on a horse or with a gun, he would say “this is my horse” or “this is my gun.” Salem would then run to the owner and try to take the horse or gun from this person.

Sometimes he would go to the door of his home and state, “my weapons are behind the door.” He would then try to open the door to fetch his imagined weapons. Salem explained that Hasan had kept a rifle on a cupboard behind a door.

As a child, Salem would become enraged at the sight of a Bedouin. An animosity towards Bedouins continued into adulthood. Once when working in a village where Bedouins lived, a coworker, who knew about his past life memories, teased Salem that these Bedouins were of the same tribe that killed Hasan. This provoked Salem to pick a fight with one of the Bedouins and Salem proceeded to beat the Bedouin up.

Salem demonstrated a strong interest in horses, which was unusual as his family had no horses and horses were uncommon in the mountain towns of Lebanon, such as Fallujah.

When Salem was a child, no attempts were made to investigate his past life memories.

Salem’s Past Life Memories are Verified

In 1966, when Salem was 21 years old, he and his father traveled from Fallujah, Lebanon to Krayye, Syria, a distance a little over 100 miles, to attend the public funeral of a brother of Sultan Pasha Atrash. The location where Hasan was killed is about 8 miles south of Sweida and Krayye is a little further south, about 12 miles south of Sweida.

Click on the map to enlarge it, to better appreciate the geographic details. Recall that Fallujah is just east of Beirut, so the route Hasan and his father took was essentially from Beirut to Sweida, which is highlighted by a white oval.

At that time, in 1966, they decided to investigate Salem’s past life memories and found that there had indeed been a youth named Hasan Hamed in Krayye, who matched the past life statements of Salem, including the manner of death.

In their travel, Salem recognized the spot on the road between Krayye and Sweida where the Bedouins had attacked Hasan and struck him on the back of the head with a club. At this geographical spot, Salem actually felt pain in the back of his head and he placed a hand there.

Salem also found the mill in which the Bedouins had thrown Hasan’s body, though the mill was now in ruins. He also recognized the house that Hasan had inhabited in Krayye.

Ian Stevenson, MD Meets Salem Andary

Ian Stevenson, MD first met Salem about two years later on March 10, 1968, when Salem was 23 years of age. In contrast to most childhood past life memory cases, where past life recollections fade at about seven years of age, Salem told Dr. Stevenson that he still had full memory of his past life. Stevenson determined that the families of Salem Andary and Hasan Hamed had no familial relationship and no prior contact.

Past Lives for George and Amal Clooney

Principles of Reincarnation-Understanding Past Lives

Change of Nationality: Hasan Hamed was a Syrian from Krayye, whereas Salem was born in Fallujah, Lebanon. If people understood that one can be born in different countries from one lifetime to another, wars and conflicts between nations would be mitigated.

Past Life Birthmark: Soon after Salem was born, his mother noted a large bump on the back of his head, which corresponded to the location that Salem said that a Bedouin had struck him with a club during the attack on Hasan Hamed, his past life persona.

Geographic Memory: Salem recognized the location where he was attacked by Bedouins and the mill that Hasan’s body was thrown into.

The Reincarnation Case of K.G.J. Weerasinghe | Indika Guneratne: How a Baby Elephant Helped Solve a Past Life Investigation

The Life and Death of K.G.J. Weerasinghe

Weerasinghe was born in 1888 in village of Wehelgoda, which is 2 miles east of Matara, a city located on the southern tip of the Sri Lankan coast. Matara, at the time, had a population of about 75,000 people and is located 200 kilometers or 125 miles from the capital city of Colombo.

Weerasinghe had only four or five years of schooling but was obvously very intelligent, as he built up a large and successful businesses as a lumber merchant and building contractor. After saving his money, he eventually became the wealthiest citizen of Matara, employing some of his family members. He also had servants, one of whom had the name Premadasa.  Weerasinghe had a safe or money-box where he kept cash and valuables. He also owned a gun, which he used for hunting. His home was burglarized once, which is another reason Weerasinghe possessed a gun.

Weerasinghe’s Love of Elephants

Weerasinghe owned several houses and estates in the country, where he kept cattle and elephants. Elephants worked in hauling lumber. He also had elephants at his home compound in Matara, which was located near railroad tracks.

Weerasinghe had a great fondness for these giant beasts and he instructed that on weekends, the elephants were not to be put to work until he arrived in the morning to feed and play with them. The elephants, including a baby pachyderm, would squirt water at their owner, which delighted Weerasinghe,

Owning elephants in Sri Lanka can only be afforded by the very wealthy and this fact was instrumental in investigating this reincarnation case.

Generosity to Premadasa and Others

Weerasinghe, once he established his wealth, was generous and was able to give houses and whole estates to his employees, including his business manager and his servant Premadasa. He was also supportive to his nephew, his older brother’s son, and took in this nephew and his wife to live with him. The couple had a daughter named Padminie.

Weerasinghe’s “Benz”

Weerasinghe liked to live on a grand scale and he regularly would buy a bigger house and a larger, more luxurious automobile. He started out with a small Austin and in 1957, he put in the paperwork to purchase a prestigious Mercedes Benz vehicle, but he backed out at the last minute when the price suddenly rose. He also had Ford and Chevrolet trucks, which were used for his lumber business. Weerasinghe liked to boast about his accomplishments and possessions. He indeed had become what in Sri Lanka is known as a “mudalali,” which refers to an aggressive, action-oriented and successful businessman.

A redeeming quality was his kindness to Buddhist monks. He himself was a devout Buddhist who built several temples, rest houses for pilgrims and who donated estates to Buddhist temples. He made almost weekly trips to the holy site where the Hindu God Kataragama is worshipped by both Buddhists and Hindus. Each year thousands of pilgrims took the train to Matara to pray at the Kataragama temple. Weerasinghe also loved children and was generous to them.

Gambling, Drinking, Womanizing and Rage

Weerasinghe was an enthusiastic gambler and he could afford to wager large sums of money. He also widely participated in lotteries. Between 1958 to 1959 he won nearly 100,000 Rupees at cards, which was an enormous sum. He was so skilled at cards that professional gamblers refused to play with him.

He enjoyed alcohol and was a heavy drinker for many years, though after 1945, he reduced his consumption. Still, he drank alcohol every night with friends, consuming whiskey and arrack.  In addition, he chased woman when it pleased him.

Weerasinghe had a temper, though his rages were short-lived. Still, many feared him. He threatened to beat his servants when they disappointed him, though he never did so. Once, he had an argument with someone who was gambling with him and Weerasinghe severely beat this man. In revenge, this individual threatened to shoot Weerasinghe, though friends dissuaded this course of action.

Marriage, Adoption and Demise

Weerasinghe married B.E. Abeynayake, but it turned out to be a difficult union. She objected to his gambling, drinking and womanizing, which resulted in frequent arguments. Due to their conflicts, Weerasinghe forbade her family members to enter their home.

In 1960, he decided to separate from his wife and he sent her away. Weerasinghe’s brother later helped the couple reconcile and she returned to the family’s home in Matara. The couple had no children, so Weerasinghe formally adopted Padminie as his daughter, thus assuring her financial security for the future.

Weerasinghe had diabetes and had to be hospitalized several times for this condition. In December 1960 he complained of pain in his toe and he had his servant, Premadasa, drive him to Colombo where he was admitted into the central hospital. There he developed urinary retention and deteriorated rapidly. He died on December 18, 1960 at the age of 72. Those present at his bedside when he passed included his older brother and Premadasa. Padminie, who was 11 years of age at the time, was not present when her adoptive father died.

He had a large funeral with four adult elephants in attendance, dressed in white, which was Weerasinghe’s favorite color, as well as the color of mourning in Sri Lanka.

Weerasinghe Reincarnates 18 Miles from his Place of Death

Indika Guneratne was born on July 26, 1962, less than two years after Weerasinghe died. His father, a farmer, was G.D. Guneratne and his mother’s name was S.D. Harriet. The family lived deep in a jungle that featured rubber plantations in an area called Korale Ima, which is 30 kilometers or 18 miles from Colombo. The family lived in a small house on a rubber plantation.

When Indika was a little over three years of age, he started to talk about a previous life and claimed that he had lived in Matara. In comparison to the modest circumstances of his parents, Indika said that he had been wealthy, had a much larger and more beautiful house than his current home and that he owned elephants.

He complained that the Guneratne home did not have electricity, in contrast to his past life home where he could turn on lights by moving something on the wall, presumably a switch. He noted these lights did not leak, in contrast to the kerosene lamps that the Guneratne family used. He also commented on the paucity of meat and the poor quality of the fish at their dinner table, as well as the shabbiness of his mother’s clothing.

Past Life “Benz,” Telephone, Bundles of Money, Railroad Tracks and a Servant Named Premadasa

In addition, Indika said that in his past life he owned a car and trucks. He specified that his car was a “Benz.” Indika, as a child, had an avid interest in automobiles and noted differences between his past life cars and those he inspected around their village.

He also said that he had a telephone at his past life home, an item not possessed by the Guneratne family. Indika even demonstrated how he used it by putting his hand near his mouth and saying “Hello,” which is a word commonly used in Sri Lanka when answering the phone. This, indeed, was the word that Weeasinghe had used when answering a phone call.

Indika told his parents that he had “bundles of money” and that if they took him to Marata, “then I can give you the money.” When something angered Indika, he would threaten to go to Matara. Indika also shared that he had a servant named Premadasa.

In referring to the location of his past life home, he related that it was near the railroad tracks in Matara. His parents were astonished that he used the words “railroad tracks” as at his young age, Indika had never seen a railroad train or tracks and his parents didn’t believe that anyone around him had ever used these words. He also related that there had been a burglary at his past life home.

Past Life Habits

Indica shared that he had taken alcohol in his previous life and that his past life wife had objected to this habit. His father asked how he would ask for a drink. To this question Indika replied, “arraku bagayuk,” which is a phrase used in Sri Lanka meaning “pour me a small drink of arrack.” It was noted that this was a very unusual phrase for a young child to know.

On Sundays he would say: “I must go to Colombo to buy saris for my wife and clothing for my children.”  When his mother asked him if he knew how to buy saris he said that he knew. Later it was confirmed that Weerasinghe indeed would go to Colombo on Sundays to shop for saris his wife and clothing for other family members.

Indika Relives Elephant and Other Past Life Memories

Indika would describe with glee how in his past life he played with his elephants, including how his baby elephant would squirt water on him. It was as if Indika was reliving these moments and his father observed that: “Though his body appears to be here, his mind appears to be there,” meaning in his previous life at Matara.

There were also other times when Indika seemed to forget where he was and act as if he was actually in Matara. During these episodes, he would say:

“Where is my money-box?”

“Where is my gun?”

Indika said that he had a child in his previous life, apparently referring to his adopted daughter Padminie. When asked how old his child was, Indika stretched his hand as high as he could, indicating that she was that tall. Recall that Padminie was eleven years old when Weerasinghe died.

When Indika incurred an injury to his lip, he told his mother to inform “his wife.” When she asked how to find his wife, Indika replied he would go to Colombo and then to Matara. He noted that his car would be there. He would ask for his past life wife at other times when he did not feel well.

When asked by his parents how he came to live with them, Indika related that he had an argument with his wife and then came to his new home.

Ian Stevenson, MD Investigates this Reincarnation Case

Based on this information, Indika’s father make inquires of friends who had lived in Matara or who knew people in that city. He learned that there was an individual in Matara who fit the description that Indika gave and that this person’s family name was Weerasinghe. Indika’s family did nothing further to try to locate or contact the Weerasinghe family.

Indica stop talking about his previous life at the end of 1966, when he was about 4 ½ years old.

About two years later, in January 1968, Ian Stevenson, MD first learned about Indika’s past life memories when he received a letter regarding the case written by V. F. Guneratne, an apparent relative of Indika’s family. Stevenson traveled with his colleague, Francis Story, to meet Indika and his family in March 1968.

After meeting with the Guneratne family in Korale Ima and compiling the statements made by Indikka regarding his previous life, Stevenson, Francis Story, Indika and Indika’s father traveled the 100 miles or so from Korale Ima to Matara to further research the case. Though an acquaintance of Indika’s father indicated that a Matara businessman named Weerasinghe matched the description of Indika’s past memories, Stevenson wanted to see if other businessmen in Matara could be candidates for Indika’s past life persona.

A Search for Wealthy Businessmen with Elephants

The key clue was a wealthy businessman who owned elephants. Stevenson’s investigation revealed only two other deceased businessmen who owned elephants in Matara. Stevenson concluded that Indika’s statements did not correlate to these two individuals and it was concluded that Indika’s past life identity must have been that of Weerasinghe.

The group then made their way to the home of the Weerasinghe family. Stevenson beforehand ascertained that Indika’s family and the Weerasinghe family had no prior contact and indeed, when the two families met, Stevenson’s impression was that both families acted as if they were encountering each other for the first time. Stevenson concluded that Indika could not have known the details of Weerasinghe’s life by normal means.

Indika, though, did not make any concrete identifications at the Weerasinghe home. Stevenson attributed this to the fact that Indika, now about six years of age, had stopped talking about his past life almost 2 years beforehand.  In the series of 1200 validated childhood past life memory cases studied by Ian Stevenson at the University of Virginia, the child, on average, loses memories of the past life at 7.5 years of age.  Stevenson concluded that Indika was not able to make identifications of past life relatives in Matara simply because it was too late, that Indika had lost access to memories of his life as Weerasinghe.

Past Life Personality Traits Persist

Ian Stevenson noted there were many similarities in the personalities of Weerasinghe and Indika. Both had:

The favorite color of white

A fear of burglars

A tendency to save money

Great fondness of elephants and an interest in cattle

Respect for Buddhist monks

A fondness for meat and high-quality fish

An avid interest in motor vehicles

A tendency to be boastful and bragging

A hot temper

A fondness for dogs and dislike of cats

Ian Stevenson visited the Guneratne family again in 1973, when Indika was 11 years old. Though he had stopped talking about his past life when he was four and a half years old, Indika still displayed the behaviors of his past life persona. He continued to demand high quality food and clothes, had an avid interest in elephants, lottery tickets and automobiles, which he would try to start, and he still had a quick temper. When Stevenson asked Indika wanted to become when he grew up, he replied, surprising no one, a “mudalali,” that is, his past life profession as an aggressive, successful businessman.
