The Life of Abdulkerim Hadduroglu & Death in a Minibus Crash

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyvancrashAbdulkerim Hadduroglu was born in Cekmece, a village near Antakya, in 1934. He lived most of his life in Bedirge, which is north of Antakya. Another village in the area is Karaali, which lies 8 kilometers south of Bedirge. All these locations are part of the southernmost Turkish province of Hatay.

Abdulkerim was a farmer and his land was along a highway. Abdulkerim married a woman named Surevya, who was from Arsus, with whom he had three children. She was pregnant again at the time that Abdulkerim died.

Abdulkerim was a Muslim who observed the month long fast of Ramadan, which also requires abstinence from alcohol. Ramadan is followed by the three day holiday of Seker Bayram, which some Muslims celebrate with indulgence in alcohol. On February 26, 1963, Abdulkerim celebrated Seker Bayram in Antakya with friends by drinking raki, an alcoholic beverage made in Turkey.

After Ramadam, Abdulkerim Drinks Raki

iisis4pastliferegressiontherapyturkeyrakipartyAs Abdulkerim and his friends had became intoxicated, they asked a friend, Cevri Simsek, to take them home. The group, consisting of Abdulkerim, Suphi Elmas, Huseyin Yenoicak and Abdulgani Kizildag, got into a Fiat minibus with Cevri at the wheel. Two of the drinking companions, Hasan Bereket and Remzi Simsek stayed behind.

Abdulgani Kizildag asked to be taken back to the gasoline station where he worked. After they dropped him off, the group headed towards Bedirge. Just as the minivan approached the bridge at Karaali, a truck came from the other direction with its high beam lights on. The lights blinded Cevri who went off the edge of the road, striking the wall of the bridge. The minibus spun around and stopped on the embankment below the bridge.

Abdulkerim was sitting next to the driver. With the impact of the crash, he was smashed against the frame of the vehicle, the force causing one of his shoes to fly off. Abdulkerim was killed instantly. As noted the date was February 26, 1963. The driver, Cervi, suffered a concussion, was hospitalized for three days and was then transferred to prison. He later went to trial for reckless driving and driving while intoxicated, but was acquitted.

Past Life Memories: Necati Caylak Remembers his Past Life and Death as Abdulkerim Hadduroglu

Necati Caylak as born in 1963 in the village of Karaali, about a month after Abdulkerim died in the crash. His parents were Mikdat Caylak and his wife, Zekiye.

When he was two or three years old, Necati started talking about a past lifetime. His first statement referred to his having owned a field near a highway. He said that he was from Bedirge in his prior incarnation.

Necati then said that he had been killed at the Karaali bridge when the vehicle he was in hit the bridge as he was returning from Antakya to Bedirge. He said that he had been drinking before the accident and that it occurred on a Muslim religious holiday. Necati accurately stated the vehicle he was in was a minibus and that he lost a shoe in the crash.

Past Life Memories: Necati Identifies Past Life Companions in the Minibus

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyvancrashNecati correctly named Cevri and Abdulgani as being in the minibus with him, and that Abdulgani worked in a gas station. He said that the minivan was stolen, which was partially correct, as the minivan was taken without permission of the owners.

Necati identified Remzi as being another friend in the minibus. In actuality, Remzi was part of the group that drank raki on the night of the accident, but Remzi was left behind and did not travel in the minivan. Necati states that Ferrac was another occupant of the minvan, but in reality Ferrac was a part owner of the minivan who was not involved in the accident. Necati did not accurately identify Suphi Elmas and Huseyin Yenoicak as the other occupants of the minivan.

In sum, Necati gave an accurate description of the crash, in that he said it happened in a minivan at the bridge at Karaali and that he lost a shoe in the accident. He also made a number of accurate statements involving occupants of the minibus, namely that he, Cevri and Abdulgani traveled in the minibus before the crash, but he also confused a few names and details regarding the occupants.

Necati’s family had heard about the crash at the Karaali bridge, which only happened a month before Necati was born, but they didn’t know any details regarding those involved in the accident. As such, they could not have supplied Necati will all these details involving the occupants of the minivan.

Past Life Phobia: Necati’s Fear of Crossing the Bridge where Abdulkerim was Killed

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyBridge1When Necati was two to three years old, he and his older brother were walking down the highway when they came to the bridge at Karaali, where Abdulkerim was killed. When Necati saw the bridge, he became extremely anxious and he started to cry.

When asked why he was crying, Necati told his brother that he had been killed in a car accident there. He said that in the crash, he lost one of his shoes. Necati refused to cross the bridge and wanted to find a different way to cross the small river beneath the bridge.

Ian Stevenson noted that Necati’s phobia of the bridge lasted many years, only weakening when he reached ten years of age. Necati also had a phobia of traveling in automobiles, which persisted until he was seven years old.

A similar reaction of experiencing fear at a geographic location was also observed in the case of Rashid Khaddege | Daniel Jurdi, which was also researched by Ian Stevenson, MD. Rashid had died in an automobile crash at a spot called Military Beach, in Lebanon.

As a small child, Daniel was in a car that was being driven by his mother. As they came to the place on the road called Military Beach, little Daniel started to cry uncontrollably. When his mother asked why he was crying, Daniel said that he had been killed at this spot in his prior lifetime. Like Necati, Daniel also had a phobia of cars, though Stevenson said Daniel’s phobia was limited to fast moving vehicles.

The Rashide Khaddege | Daniel Jurdi case is especially important, as it demonstrates that facial features can remain the same from one incarnation to another.

Past Life Memories: Necati Identifies Past Life Family Members

Following his reaction to the bridge a Karaali, Necati gave additional details about his past lifetime. He said that his name had been Abdulkerim. Necati said that his wife was named Sureyya, who came from Arsus. He said that he had sons named Mehmet and Ali, as well as a daughter named Enver, which may have been his attempt to say Munnever. Later on, when he met Abdulkerim’s widow, he correctly told her that their daughter’s name was Munnever.

Necati also said that in his past lifetime his mother was named Fatma, his sister was named Katif and that he had an aunt named Meryem. All these statements were correct.

He said that he had been drinking alcohol at the time of the crash. Necati initially mistakenly said that he had been driving the vehicle that crashed. Later on, he said that Cevri was the one driving the car. Necati added that Cevri should not have been driving, as he had been drinking.

Spirit Being: Abdulkerim Hadduroglu Observes Events after his Death

iisis4pastliferregressiontherapyturkeybabyNecati said that his wife in his prior incarnation had given birth after his death. Sureyya was pregnant at the time that Abdulkerim died and she did give birth to another child after his death. Necati’s knowledge that Sureyya delivered a child after his death implies that the soul of Abdulkerim was able to observe his loved ones from the spirit world. This phenomenon has been observed in many reincarnation cases, which are complied in the section entitled Spirit Being Involvement in Reincarnation Cases.

Past Life Relationships: Necati is Reunited with his Past Life Wife and Family

Sureyya Hadduroglu, the widow of Abdulkerim, heard about Necati’s claim to have died in an auto accident at the Karaali bridge. In the autumn of 1966, three and a half years after the accident, when Necati was about three and a half years old, Sureyya came to visit Necati. She brought with her Abdulkerim’s great uncle, Hasan Sufi Hadduroglu, and two of Abdulkerim’s friends, the brothers Zeyneb and Ahmet Adahi.

iisis4pastliferegressiontherapyturkeywomanWhen the visitors were all assembled, Necati’s brother brought Necati in the room and asked him, “Who is this woman.” (1)

Necati replied, “Sureyya.” (2)

Sureyya then had little Necati sit on her knee. She then asked, “Who am I?” (3)

Necati then stated, “You are my wife.” Necati then added that Sureyya was the daughter of his past life uncle, which was correct. (4)

When asked who Hasan Sufi Hadduroglu was, Necati correctly responded that he was a past life paternal uncle. Necati also correctly identified by name Zeyneb and Ahmet Adahi.

Necati’s spontaneous identifications made Sureyya believe that Necati was indeed the reincarnation of her deceased husband, Abdulkerim. Necati’s correct identification of Abdulkerim’s family members brought Sureyya to tears.

Sureyya then said to Necati, referring to him as her husband reborn: “How could you leave Sureyya?” (5)

Necati replied, “But you are Sureyya.” (6)

Past Life Memories: Necati Identifies Past Life Family Members at the home of his Past Life Wife, Sureyya

Sureyya invited Necati and his father to her home to visit her and her children. There, Sureyya’s father-in-law, that is, Abdulkerim Hadduroglu’s father, took Necati in his arms and showed him photographs on the wall and asked, “Who is this?” (7)

Necati looked at the photos and correctly identified himself in his past incarnation, Abdulkerim Hadduroglu, and Abdulkerim’s sister, Katif.

At Sureyya’s home, Necati also spontaneiously identified Meryem Haddurouglu, Abdulkerim’s stepmother. While he was at Surreyya’s home, Mehmet, Abdulkerim’s eldest son, entered the house. When Necati saw him, he immediately and spontaneously said, “This young man is my son.” (8)

Past Life Behavior: Little Necati likes Raki and Identifies his Past Life Drinking Companions in Karaali

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyRakiHasan Bereket, one of the people who was drinking raki with Abdulkerim on the night that he was killed, heard about Necati’s memories of being the reincarnation of Abdulkerim.

Unannounced, he and two others who had been drinking with Abdulkerim on the day he died decided to visit Necati. This occurred in 1968, when Necati was five years old. As they arrived in Karaali, Necati saw them.

Necati spontaneously said to Hasan: “Oh, how are you, Hasan?” (9)

Hasan reported that Necati also recognized the two other drinking companions.

Of interest, Necati also demonstrated a premature interest in raki.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

Phobia from a Past Lifetime: Necati demonstrated a great fear of crossing the bridge at Karaali, where Abdulkerim Hadduroglu was killed. This phobia lasted until he was ten years old. In addition, Necati had a fear of traveling in automobiles, which lasted until he was seven.

Spirit Being Involvement: Necati’s knowledge that Sureyya, his past life wife, delivered a child after his death implies that the soul of Abdulkerim was able to observe his loved ones from the spirit would. He was apparently able to observe that his wife’s pregnancy ended in the delivery of a healthy child.

Relationships Renewed through Reincarnation: Necati was reunted with this past life family and wife.

Split Incarnation: Necati was born about a month after Abdulkerim had died. If it is assumed that he soul is involved in the development of the fetus, then Abdulkerim’s soul was animating Necati’s fetus for 8 months of gestation. This phenomenon of a soul being able to inhabit more than one human bodies at a time is termed split incarnation.

A similar case, which features split incarnation and also shows that facial features can remain consistent from one lifetime to another, is the case of Hanan Monsour | Suzanne Ghamen

Past Life Story with Soul Plan, Renewal of Past Life Relationships & Geographic Past Life Memory: Muslim Reincarnation Case of Mehmet Cosmen | Suleyman Zeytun

A Soul Plan in Proximity Reincarnation Case that also exhibits a few inherent characteristics of the other types of reincarnation; the best example are those of split reincarnation. This is the reincarnation case of Mehet Cosmen who reincarnated in the child, Suleyman Zeytun who was born in the same village, just a few doors away from Mehet’s home.

The Drowning of Mehet Cosmen

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyHorseMehet Cosmen was born around the year 1898 and worked as a farmer in the village of Kayish, in Turkey. Kayish is 20 kilometers or miles from the town of Adana, Turkey. In about the year 1938, when Mehet was 40 years old or so, Mehet was doing his usual chores around his farm. It was summertime and he was harvesting, thrashing and milling grain. In the process, horses used to perform these tasks became covered with dust and chaff from the grain.

Mehet would go to the River Seyhan to wash the dust from his horse. On one occasion, Mehet took his horse to be washed in an area of the river that is usually shallow. The level of the river, though, had risen and the spot where Mehet took his horse was deeper than expected. The horse became frightened and bit Mehet on the shoulder, who responded by placing a muzzle on the horse.

Mehet’s horse continued to struggle and pulled Mehet into deeper water, where both Mehet and the horse drowned. Mehet could not swim and when his body was discovered, he was found with his arms wrapped around a tree limb, apparently trying to use the limb to float to safety. As noted, it is thought that the year that Mehet drowned was 1938.

Soul Plan, Renewal of Relationships through Reincarnation & Geographic Past Life Memory: Suleyman visits his Past Life Home

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyDeafBoySuleyman Zeytun was born deaf and mute around the year 1938 in the Turkish village of Kayish, the same village that Mehet Cosmen lived and died in. Suleyman’s parents were Ramazan Zeytun and his wife, Bedia. The exact date of Suleyman’s birth is not known.

The Zeytun family actually lived next door to the home of Mehet Cosmen, where his widow and surviving children still lived. Indeed, the house of Mehet Cosmen was only 30 meters from the Zeytun home.

As soon as he could walk, Suleyman would leave his house and go directly to the Cosmen home. Ian Stevenson noted that the Cosmen home was in the opposite direction from the center of the village.

Stevenson conjectured that if a child left the house to meet other people and observe activities in the village, the child would go towards the center of the village, rather than the opposite direction.

Nonetheless, Bedia, his mother, said that Suleyman walked to the Cosmen home “every day.” (1)

Soul Plan in Proximity Reincarnation Case

Please note that Mehmet reincarnating next door to his past life home demonstrates planning on the part of his soul. I term this type of case a Proximity Reincarnation Case, as a soul plans a future lifetime so they reincarnate geographically close to their past life family, so that a reunion with loved ones can be enacted through reincarnation.

Past Life Memories: Suleyman Describes his Past Life Drowning as Mehet Cosman

IISIS4PastLiferRegressionTherapyTurkeyAboyonahorseWhen Suleyman was barely able to walk and when he made one of his first journeys to the Cosmen’s home, he started to communicate through gestures about how Mehet Cosmen had died. From the Cosmen’s home, he would point in the direction of the River Seyhan to the spot where Mehet had drowned. Other gestures regarding the drowning, which Ian Stevenson observed, include the following:

1. Ian Stevenson noted that Suleyman would turn his hand in a circle with fingers pointing down to imitate the motion of a horse walking in a circle to move the grinding stone to crush grain.

2. Stevenson observed Suleyman holding his arms and hands parallel to one another to imitate the holding of reins, while leaning back to get the horse to go into the river.

3. Suleyman put his right hand on his shoulder and grasped his shoulder, to show that the horse bit him. Ian Stevenson noted that Suleyman would clinch and show his teeth to imitate the horse biting him.

4. Ian Stevenson then observed Suleyman using his right hand in a circular motion to imitate winding a muzzle cord around the mouth of the horse.

5. Suleyman held both hands in front of him as if holding the reins of the horse. He then would lean to the left and backwards with extended arms to imitate falling off the horse.

6. Ian Stevenson noted that Suleyman then put the fingers of his right hand into his mouth to show that he was swallowing water as he fell from the horse.

8. Suleyman the put his right hand around his throat to show that he was drowning.

At first, Suleyman’s family and the surviving family of Mehut Cosmen were unsure of what Suleyman was trying to communicate. Suleyman’s pointing out of the specific spot in the River Seyhan where Mehut had drowned, along with his pantomime consistent with the events which led to Mehut’s death, allowed the families to understand that Suleyman was conveying that he had been Mehut Cosmen in a past lifetime.

Past Life Memories & Possesions: Little Suleyman Claims that Mehet Cosmen’s Koran and a Buffalo are His

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyKoranBetween the ages of two and three, Suleyman began making gestures trying to express that items in the Cosmen family home belonged to him. He then tried to take these items back with him to the Zeytun family home. As examples, he tried to walk away with the Cosmen family Koran, claiming it was his, and he tried to lead a buffalo from the Cosmen’s land to the home of the Zeytun family.

Past Life Emotions: Suleyman Gestures his Love for Members of the Cosmen Family

To the brother of Mehet Cosman, whose name was Saban, Suleyman put his two fingers together as a sign of closeness.

To Hatice Cosmen, the widow of Mehet, Suleyman would put his two fingers together as a sign of closeness and then point to his heart, apparently trying to show Hatice that they had been in love with one another.

Past Life Emotions: Little Suleyman’s Protection of Members of the Cosmen Family

IISIS4PastLiferRegressionTherapyTurkeyBuffaloMehmet Cosmen was very devoted to his wife, Hatice, and worked hard so that Hatice would not have to take a job outside their home. After his death, Hatice had to work for other people in the village, doing tasks such as baking bread. When Suleyman saw that Hatice was working for others, he became very upset, started crying and made gestures indicating that her working for others was wrong.

If Hatice would physically discipline her children, Suleyman would object. When Mehmet’s son, Abdullah, got into arguments with others, Suleyman would protest on his behalf.

Suleyman’s attachment to Mehmet’s family, which started at the age of three, continued until he was at least 29 years of age. Though Suleyman and his family eventually moved to the city of Adana, Suleyman would continue to visit the Cosman family in Kayish.

Suleyman would bring presents to Abdullah, Mehmet’s son. Ian Stevenson made the following poignant observation of Suleyman’s attachment to the daughters of Mehmet:

“He attended the weddings of Mehmet Cosmen’s daughters, crying at each like an affectionate father would do.” (2)

Refika, one of Mehmet’s married daughters, related that Suleyman would often visit her family in the Taurus region of Turkey and stay with them. This is reminiscent of the case of Rashid Khaddege | Daniel Jurdi, who visited his past life family on a monthly basis and also stayed with them, sleeping on a cot reserved for him. The Khaddege | Jurdi case also shows that facial features can remain consistent from one lifetime to another.

Suleyman also remained close to Mehet’s widow, Hatice, though their relationship was of a mother and son, rather than a married couple.

Past Life Phobia of Water

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyHorseSuleyman had marked fear of water that persisted until he was at least 27 years of age. In contrast to his schoolmates, he refused to learn to swim in the river. He consistently demonstrated fear at the spot on the River Seyhan where Mehmet Cosmen had drowned.

Ian Stevenson, MD, of the University of Virginia, on the Validity of the Mehmet Cosmen | Suleyman Zeytun Reincarnation Case

Ian Stevenson made the point the Suleyman’s deafness serves to strengthen the validity of the case, as Suleyman could not have heard about the death of Mehmet Cosmen from the conversations of others. Suleyman began trying to communicate about his past lifetime as Mehmet long before he was taught to read or write.

Ian Stevenson, in his investigations, was always looking for ways that parents and other involved parties might coach children in testifying about claimed past lives. He was keen to expose any fraud in reincarnation cases.

Ian Stevenson noted that not only did Suleyman’s deafness exclude the possibility of learning about Mehmet’s death from verbal conversations, but it would make it very difficult for anyone to coach Suleyman to falsely claim a past lifetime. Further, Ian Stevenson noted that it would be even more difficult for someone to coach Suleyman to express sentimental emotions towards Mehmet’s family, such crying at the weddings of Mehmet’s daughters.

Was Suleyman’s Deafness and Muteness Karmic in Origin

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyDeafBoyVillagers in Kayish wondered why Suleyman was born deaf and mute. They concluded that if his disabilities were related to karma, it could not have stemmed from the lifetime of Mehmet Cosmen, as all agreed that Mehmet led a pious life with no misdeeds. If the disabilities were related to karma, they reasoned, it must have due to actions in some other lifetime.

Ian Stevenson noted that Suleyman’s parents, Ramazan and Bedia, were cousins. Since they were of the same biologic family, recessive genes for these disabilities were able to be expressed. As such, Suleyman’s disabilities may have simply have been an issue of genetics.

Whether disabilities or misfortunes are related to karma from prior incarnations is an issue that needs to be better understood and presents a future challenge for those involved in reincarnation research.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

This reincarnation case demonstrates the following features:

Soul Plan, Proximity Reincarnation Case: Mehmet Cosmen appears to have reincarnated as Suleyman Zeytun next door to his own past life home in Kayish, Turkey. Though Mehmet did not technically reincarnate into the same family, he reincarnated into a family that gave him direct access to his past life family. I term types of cases “proximity cases,” as the soul reincarnated nearby its last incarnation in order to reconnect with loved ones.

Please note that reincarnating next door to one’s past life home to be reunited with loved ones involves planning by the soul from the spirit realm.

As soon as he could walk, Suleyman made his way to Mehmet’s former home and went on to renew relationships with past life family members. Ian Stevenson noted that Suleyman’s attachment to Mehmet’s children was so strong that at the weddings of Mehmet’s daughters, he wept like any affectionate father would.

As in all same family reincarnation cases, planning by the soul is involved. The soul of Mehmet Cosmen appears to have planned his next incarnation so that he would be born next door to his past life home, so that he could return to his past life family.

Phobia from a Past Incarnation: Mehmet died from drowning and Suleyman demonstrated a fear of water, particularly at the spot in the River Seyhan where Mehmet had drowned.

Change in Religion: It was noted that Suleyman claimed the Koran from the Cosmen home as his own and he tried to take it back to the Zeytun family home. This indicates that Mehmet Cosmen was a Muslim and was we recall, he was noted to be a very pious man.
Ian Stevenson does not specifically indicate what religion Suleyman and his family practiced, but it is safe to say that they developed a belief in reincarnation as Suleyman’s memories of his past lifetime as Mehmet Cosmen became known and validated.

Split Incarnation: Though the exact dates of Mehmet’s drowning and Suleyman’s birth are not known, Ramazan, Suleyman’s father, estimated that the interval between Mehet’s death and Suleyman’s birth was between five to ten days.

Ian Stevenson explained that the villagers of Kayish did not refer to calendars often, but they did remember significant events in their community. The drowning of a member of the village and the birth of a son are events that Ramazan would remember distinctly and as such, Stevenson thought Ramazan’s estimate was likely accurate.

If one assumes that the soul is involved in the development of the fetus and if the interval between Mehmet’s drowning and Suleyman’s birth was only 5-10 days, then the soul of Mehmet inhabited the developing fetus of Suleyman for essentially the entire time that Suleyman was in the womb. This soul was animating both Suleyman, who was in the womb, and Mehmet, who was still alive, for a period of nine months.

This same phenomenon was observed in the very important case of Hanan Monsour | Suzanne Ghanem, as Suzanne was born only 10 days after Hanan died. As such, Hanan was alive almost the entire time that Suzanne was in the womb, indicating that the soul of these two women were animating two bodies at one time. The Monour | Ghanem case also demonstrates that facial features can remain consistent from one lifetime to another.

This phenomenon of a soul inhabiting more than one body at a time has been termed split incarnation. One of the most dramatic examples of split incarnation is found in the very compelling cases involving Penney Peirce. Penney’s soul appears to have inhabited the bodies of two of her past incarnations, those of Alice Cary and Charles Parkhurst, where these two past lives overlapped by 29 years.

Why does the soul incarnate in more than one body at a time? One major reason is to get more accomplished, including working off of karma and participating in projects that are important to the soul. It is also possible that the soul is aware of a destined event, such as an upcoming death, and begins another incarnation to continue its work or to maintain attachments with loved ones

Past Life Behavior, Past Life Geographic Memory & Past Life Phobia in Turkish Reincarnation Case of Ahmet Delibalta | Erkan Kilic

Ahmet Delibalta observed the recovery of his body after a plane crash. A reincarnation case study which details how the relationships are renewed through reincarnation. Erkan as a child to played with his own past life son.

How Derived: Memories in Childhood

Researched by: Ian Stevenson, MD

From: Cases of the Reincarnation Type, Volume III, Twelve Cases in Lebanon and Turkey, by Ian Stevenson

Article by Walter Semkiw, MD

Ahmet Delibalta’s Nightclub, Bakery & Muslim Wife

iisis4pastliferegressiontherapyturkeycrashAhmet Delibalta was born in Adana, Turkey, in 1936. He married a woman named Mihriban and had three children with her. Ahmet also took a second wife, Fehime, a Turk who was an orthodox Muslim.

Ahmet owned a nightclub in Adana called “Havuz” and running this club was his passion. Havuz provided Ahmet with a very good income and he was able to afford a large and well-appointed house. Ahmet also owned a bakery in Adana.

Ahmet Freezes to Death after a Plane Crash

In 1962 he went to Istanbul to find a female singer for his nightclub. His second wife, Fehime, was pregnant when he left for this two week business trip. In Istanbul, Ahmet chose a woman named Rengin Arda as his singer. On March 8, 1962, he was bringing Rengin back to Adana by airplane. IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyMountain1Unfortunately, the Turkish Airlines airplane they were on crashed in the snow-covered Toros Mountains. It was thought the passengers died on impact.

The investigation that followed, though, revealed that the plane had landed in soft snow, but in a very remote area, which meant that rescuers could not reach the downed plane for several days. Passengers who survived the crash, including Ahmet, froze to death. Ahmet was about 35 years old when he died.

In Error, A Jewish Man’s Body is Received by Ahmet’s Family

In recovering bodies from the crash, a mistake was made in identifying Ahmet’s body. Initially, the body of another passenger, who was Jewish, was identified as Ahmet. This occurred when Ahmet’s younger brother declined to view the body itself, as it was too emotionally distressing for him. Instead, he asked to be shown clothing from the body. Mistakenly, he identified the clothing from the Jewish man as the clothing that belonged to Ahmet. The body of the Jewish man was then buried in a cemetery under the name of Ahmet Delibalta.

The error was subsequently discovered when the rest of the bodies were brought down from the mountain. One of the bodies had the Ahmet’s identify card on it. The body of the Jewish man who was mistakenly buried as Ahmet had to be exhumed and buried elsewhere.

Soul Plan: An Announcing Dream

Latife Kilic lived in Adana, Turkey, with her husband Yusuf. A week before Ahmet Delibalta’s plane crashed, she had a dream. In this dream, Ahmet Delibalta appeared, who Latife only knew by sight, not by acquaintance. In the dream, Ahmet gave her a gift and then laid down on the bed between Latife and Yusef. When she woke, Latife asked her husband:

“What does that nightclub man want at our place?” (1)

Latife was pregnant and near term. Yusuf interpreted the dream to mean that they would have a boy. Approximately two weeks later, Latife did have a boy, which we will see appears to have indeed been the reincarnation of Ahmet Delibalta.

Past Life Phobia: Erkan Kilic is Born with an Intense Fear of Airplanes

Turboprop airplaneErkan Kilic was born in Adana, Turky, around the day of March 13, 1962, just a few days after the airplane crash that killed Ahmet Delibalta. As noted, his parents were Yusuf Kilic and his wife, Latife, who were Arabs. Erkan was one of 15 children born to Latife and Yusuf. Yusuf worked for his nephew, Zekeriya Kilic, who owned a business selling electrical equipment. Yusef and Latife were relatively poor.

Before Erkan could even speak, he demonstrated a great fear of airplanes, which was triggered by seeing an airplane or by hearing their engines. Upon these occasions, Erkan would run to his mother or hide under his bed. This phobia lasted until he was three years of age.

Phobias from past life traumas are common in reincarnation cases. In the case of Rashid Khaddege | Daniel Jurdi, Daniel had a phobia of fast moving cars, which resulted from his death as Rashid Kaddege in an automobile accident. In the case of Anne Frank | Barbro Karlen, Barbro had a fear of men in uniform, stemming from Anne Frank’s persecution by Nazi’s. Both the Kaddege | Jurdi and Frank | Karlen cases show that facial features can remain the same from lifetime to lifetime. The Anne Frank | Barbro Karlen case demonstrates that one can change religion and nationality from one incarnation to another.

Past Life Memories: Erkan Tells Latife that He is Ahmet Delibalta & She is Not his Real Mother

Erkan began to talk when he was between two and three years of age,. As soon as he could speak, he told Latife that she was not his mother. He asked to be taken to his real mother and to his wife. Erkan also said that his real name was Ahmet Delibalta and that he had a nightclub called “Havuz,” as well as a bakery. As noted, Erkan’s parents knew who Ahmet Delibalta was and of his death in a plane crash, but they denied having any personal acquaintance with Ahmet.

The phenomenon of a child telling the biologic mother that she is not the child’s real mother, along with the demand by the child to be taken to their real mother, is common in reincarnation cases studied by Ian Stevenson. As another example, in the case of Anne Frank | Barbro Karlen, little Barbro also told her parents that they were not her real parents and that their home was not her real home. Barbro informed her biologic parents that her real parents would soon come to get her and take her back to her real home.

Past Life Memories: Erkan Describes his Death as Ahmet Delibalta

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyFreezeWhen Erkan was two to three years old, he reported details of his death in a past lifetime. He told his mother, Latife, that he had gone to Istanbul to find a singer for his nightclub. On the way back from Istanbul, their plane crashed in the Toros mountains.

Little Erkan also knew that he, as Ahmet, did not die in the crash of the plane. Rather, Erkan said that he died later by freezing to death. Ian Stevenson was particularly impressed by this statement made by Erkan, as everyone associated with this reincarnation case thought that all the victims had died on impact. Only those very familiar with the investigation of the crash knew that some passengers, including Ahmet Delibalta, did survive the crash and later froze to death.

Spirit Being in Reincarnation Case: Ahmet, from the Spirit World, Observes Recovery of his Body

Erkan also knew that his body was confused with that of a Jewish man who was also on the plane. Ahmet’s brothers reported that the Delibalta family was very embarrassed about this incident and tried to keep it secret. As such, the confusion regarding the bodies was not well-known outside the immediate family. As such, how could Erkan, as a child, know this detail?

Erkan’s knowledge of the confusion about the identity of the bodies also implies that after his death, Ahmet was able to observe the recovery of bodies and the chain of events that led to the wrong body being buried in Ahmet’s grave. As such, this represents an example of spirit being involvement in a reincarnation case.

Past Life Memories: Erkan Identifies Past Life Family Members

When Erkan was two to three years old, he made accurate statements regarding the names of his past life family. He said that in his lifetime as Ahmet, his father was named Yunus, his mother Emine, his sons Veysel and Ali, his daughter Aysel, his sister Turkan and his mother-in-law Katibe. All these statements were correct.

Erkan also reported that his wife’s name was Mihriban and that he had another wife named Fehime. Erkan said the he preferred Mihriban over Fehime, which was verified by Ahmet’s brother-in-law.

Erkan was also able to identify members of Ahmet Delibalta’s family from photographs. He correctly identified Ahmet’s wife, Mihriban, and two of Ahmet’s children, Veysel and Aysel, in these photos. It is not clear whether Erkan had already met Mihriban when he saw these pictures, but Ian Stevenson found the identification of Veysel and Aysel, as small children, as impressive.

Geographic Past Life Memory: Erkan Finds his Way to his to Wife, Mihriban, and his Past Life Home

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyHouseWhen Erkan was two to three years old, he expressed a desire to visit places from his past lifetime as Ahmet. On his own, he walked to the home of Ahmet Delibalta, which was 200 meters away from the Kilic home. Ahmet’s widow, Mihriban, was still living there. There, Erkan introduced himself to Mihriban.

Later on, when Latife was with Mihriban and Mihriban’s sister-in-law, Latife asked who his wife in his past lifetime was. Without any hesitation, Erkan correctly pointed to Mihriban.

On another occasion, Erkan had completely disappeared from the Kilic home, which caused a panic. His parents later found him in the Ahmet Delibalta’s home, with Ahmet’s first wife, Mihriban.

After Erkan found the Delibalta home, he went there on his own often and would stay sometimes until 10 or 11 at night. A Kilic family member had to go to retrieve him. Latife, Erkan’s mother, found Erkan’s frequent visits to the Delibalta’s home so annoying that she started to beat him to prevent him from going there.

When Mihriban would take her children to visit her sister, who lived in a house across the street from the Kilic family, Erkan would climb on the roof and watch them. When asked what he was doing, Erkan explained that he was “watching his wife and children.” Ian Stevenson noted that Erkan repeatedly was observed to climb on the roof to watch Mihriban and her children. (2)

Geographic Past Life Memory: Erkan Finds the Apartment of Fehime, his Past Life Second Wife

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyAdanaOne day, Erkan insisted to Latife, his mother, that he wanted to visit Fehime. Latife knew that Fehime lived in the same apartment building as her physician, so she took Erkan there and went to the physician’s door, hoping he could direct them to where Fehime lived. The physician was not home.

Erkan then led Latife to another door in the apartment building and knocked on it. Fehime answered. Latife then introduced herself. Fehime had heard about Erkan’s claims to be the reincarnation of Ahmet.

Fehime then asked Erkan, “Do you recognize me?” (3)

Erkan replied: “You are Fehime.” (4)

Fehime then asked, “What relation am I to you?” (5)

Erkan replied: “You are my wife.” (6)

Fehime then introduced Erkan to a small girl who was in the apartment. She asked Erkan if he knew who she was.

Erkan replied: “How could I recognize her since you were pregnant and suffering labor pains?” (7)

Ahmet, as a Spirit Being, Observes Fehime in Labor

Fehime had delivered her daughter two days after Ahmet’s plane crashed in the Toros Mountains. Ahmet, did not die in the crash, though it is not known how long he lived after the crash. Whether he was dead or alive, it appears that his soul was able to observe Fehime going into labor.

Geographic Past Life Memory: Erkan Finds his Past Life Mother & Bakery

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyBakeryAgain, when Erkan was only two to three years old, he asked his mother, Latife, if he could go visit his mother from his prior lifetime as Ahmet. Erkan said:

“I can show you the way to my mother’s place.” (8)

Latife allowed him to try to find the way and she followed him to see where he would go. Erkan led his mother on a 200 meter walk directly to the home of Ahmet’s mother, which was next door to the bakery that Ahmet had owned.

Once Erkan found the bakery, he would repeatedly visit it and claim that he owned the bakery. One baker came to believe that Erkan was indeed the reincarnation of Ahmet Delibalta and gave him a loaf of bread. The worker invited Erkan to return whenever he wanted more bread.

Geographic Past Life Memory in Reincarnation Cases

Many reincarnation cases feature the phenomenon of a child remembering the way to a past life home. As an example, in the case of Anne Frank | Barbro Karlen, at ten years of age Barbro was able to lead her parents on a 10 minute walk from their hotel in Amsterdam directly to the Anne Frank House, even though Barbro had never been in Amsterdam before.

Other such cases can be found in the section entitled: Geographic Memory

Past Life Memory: Erkan Recognizes the Singer from Istanbul from a Photograph

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeySingerRengin Arda, the singer who died with Ahmet on the way back from Istanbul, had been in Adana once before. A German hairdressing she went to had a photograph taken with Regin on this prior visit. When the hairdresser heard about Erkan’s claim that he was Ahmet reincarnated, the hairdresser came to the Kulic home to do her own test.

The hairdresser had everyone sit down and be silent. She then brought out her photograph and showed it to Erkan. She then asked who the women in photo were.

Erkan replied: “You and the singer.” (9)

The hairdresser then asked Erkan the name of the singer. He replied promptly: “Rengin Arda.” (10)

Ian Stevenson noted that this was a significant identification, as Erkan’s parents themselves did not know the name of the singer.

Past Life Behavior: Erkan plays Nightclub Owner, a Past Life Passion

iisis4pastliferegressiontherapyturkeybarAs a child, Erkan liked to pretend that he owned a nightclub. Ian Stevenson wrote:

“Erkan greatly enjoyed playing that he was the proprietor of a nightclub. He arranged boxes to represent a bar and put bottles on them. He assigned roles to the neighborhood girls and gave one a stick to hold to represent a microphone held by the singer. On one occasion, Erkan was observed setting out two chairs for the wives of Ahmet, Mihriban and Fehime.” (11)

“Latife Kilic had the impression from watching Erkan playing the game of ‘nightclub’ that he preferred Mihriban to Fehime. Erkan himself said quite frankly in 1970 that he (in his previous life) preferred Mihriban to Fehime.” (12)

As noted previously, Latife’s observation and Erkan’s statement that Ahmet preferred Mihriban was confirmed by Ahmet’s brother in law, Ihsan Ozbicer.

Erkan’s early fascination with playing nightclub can be seen as a talent or passion that stems from a past incarnation. Many other reincarnation cases involve children and adults who demonstrate talents or interests from past incarnations.

Past Life Memory: Erkan Identifies his Watch from his Past Lifetime

When Erkan was fours year old, he said that as Ahmet, he and a friend named Mithat exchanged watches and that Mithat still had his watch. He also said that the watch had teeth marks on it.

Ahmet Delibalta did have a friend named Mithat Goksal, who was contacted regarding Erkan’s claim. Mithat confirmed that he and Ahmet had exchanged watches in Mithat’s office. Mithat thought it was extremely unlikely that anyone other than he and Ahmet could have known about this exchange. Ian Stevenson examined the watch and found that there were indeed teeth marks on the watch case, which, it was learned, had been made by Ahmet’s children.

Past Life Memory: Erkan Recalls Stealing a Tray

Erkan said that as Ahmet, he once stole a tray from his parent’s home. Erkan said that he stole the tray to get money to go to a football game and that he sold the tray for 25 kurus.

This incident was later confirmed by Ahmet’s friend, Selim Ozel, who was an accomplice to the theft. Selim and Ahmet indeed wanted to go to a football game, but Ahmet did not have enough money for a ticket. He stole the tray and sold it for 25 kurus to get into the football game. This occurred when Ahmet was 15 years old, 20 years before his death.

When Selim Ozel met Erkan, as a test he asked if anyone else went with them to the football game. Erkan said there was a third boy named Tevfic who went with them, which Selim verified as correct.

Ian Stevenson pointed out that only three people knew of this incident, Ahmet, Selim and Tevfic. Similarly, the exchange of watches was only known by Ahmet and Mithat. By reporting details from Ahmet’s life that are so obscure, it is hard to imagine how Erkan could have known this information except through reincarnation and past life memories.

Relationships Renewed through Reincarnation: As a Child, Erkan Plays with his Own Past Life Son

Erkan became friends with one of the sons of Ahmet Delibalta, whose name was Ali. Erkan and Ali would make so much noise in their play that Latife, Erkan’s mother, would try to send Ali away. Erkan would than stop her, stating that Ali was “my son.” (13)

Latife then gave in and let them play. A neighbor noted that Erkan would embrace Ali more like a parent than a playmate.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

Geographic Past Life Memory: Between the ages of two and three, Erkat was able to find his way to his past life home, where he and his past life wife, Mihriban, lived. In addition, he was able to find the apartment where his other past life wife, Fehime, lived. Erkat was also able, on his own, to find the house where his past life mother lived.

Geographic memory was also dramatically demonstrated in the Anne Frank | Barbro Karlen reincarnation case, as Barbro at the age of ten was able to find Anne Frank House, without directions, on her first trip to Amsterdam.

Another case involving geographic memory involves neurosurgeon Norm Shealy, MD, PhD, who intuitively was led to the location where he practiced medicine in nineteenth century England, in his past lifetime as John Elliotson.

Renewal of Relationships through Reincarnation: Ahmet Delibalta reincarnated as Erkan Kulic in the same section of Adana that he had lived in his previous life. As such, this gave Ahmet easy access to his past life family.

Erkan enjoyed the company of his past life family so much that his mother tried to prevent him from going to Mihriban’s house. In an especially poignant feature of this story, Erkan became friends with his own past life son, Ali. Erkan and Ali played together joyfully.

Please note that reincarnating in a way that allows reunion with past life family members involves planning by the soul.

Past Life Phobia: Erkan had a great fear of airplanes. When he saw or heard a plane, he would run to his mother or dive under his bed for safety. In his past lifetime, Erkan had died following a plane crash.

Spirit Beings in Reincarnation Case: This reincarnation case demonstrates the involvement of spirit beings in several ways. Ahmet appears to have been able to observe the airplane crash scene after his death, as Erkan knew about how his body was confused with the body of a Jewish man, who was mistakenly buried in Ahmet’s grave.

Erkan also made the statement that his wife, Fehime, was in labor during the crash. Fehime gave birth two days after Ahmet’s plane went down. As Ahmet did not die in the crash, but froze after the plane landed in soft snow, it seems quite possible that Ahmet died while Fehime was in labor.

Another example of spirit beings involves the announcing dream that Latife, Erkan’s mother, had. In this dream, Ahmet Delibalta appeared, gave her a gift and then laid down between her and her husband. It appears that from the spirit world, the soul of Ahmet was communicating to Latife that he would be born to her. Two weeks later, Ahmet indeed appears to have been born to her as Erkan.

Split Incarnation or Parallel Lives: Erkan Kilic was born only a few days after Ahmet Delibalta died. If the assumption is made that the soul is involved in the development of the fetus, which will be discussed in the section on Soul Evolution, then the soul of Ahmet was involved with the fetus of Erkan for the entire nine months of gestation, while Ahmet was still alive.

This same phenomenon was also observed in the very important case of Hanan Monsour | Suzanne Ghanem, as Susan was born only ten days after Hanan had died following heart surgery. The Monsour | Ghanem case also shows that facial features can remain the same from one lifetime to another.

The phenomenon of a soul inhabiting more than one body at a time has been termed split incarnation. One wonders whether in cases such as Hanan Monsour and Ahmet Delibalta, the soul knows of a predestined fatal event and begins another incarnation in anticipation of letting go of the other.

Past Life Story with Soul Plan, Spirit Being & Past Life Phobia: Turkish Reincarnation Case of Nasir Alev | Nasir Toksoz

Turkish reincarnation case demonstrates multiple principles of reincarnation.

The Life of Nasir Alev and his Death from Tetanus

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyStepsNasir Alev lived in the village of Yukari Ekinci, which is 10 kilometers or miles from Antakya. Nasir was known as a very pious and religious man. With his wife, Esma, he had 5 children, four sons named Salih, Hasan, Zahir and Necim, and a daughter named Elmas. Nasir was a farmer who owned olive orchards, which were located a few kilometers outside of the village.

When he was about 70 years old, he fell down stone steps at the front of his house. The steps were under a balcony. When he fell, Nasir hit his head on a stone, injuring his forehead and nose. Blood was observed flowing from his nose.

After a few days, his condition worsened and he was unable to speak. Nasir was taken to the Government Hospital in Antakya, where it was found that he could not open his jaws, which made his unable to eat. He died on August 21, 1960 at 10:30 in the morning. The cause of death was determined to be tetanus.

Spirit Being & Soul Plan: An Announcing Dream

Mehmet Toksoz was also a farmer who lived in the village of Yukari Ekinci. On the night of August 20, 1960, he had a dream in which Nasir Alev came to him. Mehmet knew Nasir as an acquaintance, as they had adjoining olive groves that were located a few kilometers from the village. Their homes in Yukari Ekinci were about 300 meters apart. Though they knew of each other, they were not close friends.

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyManWithTetanusIn the dream Nasir told Mehmet, “I am coming to stay with you.” (1)
Mehmet interpreted the dream meant to mean that Nasir would be reincarnated as his son. Medina, his wife, happened to be nine months pregnant at the time. In the dream, Mehmet swore that he would give the expected child the same first name, Nasir.

At the time that Mehmet had this dream, Nasir Alev was still alive in the Government Hospital in Antakya. He would die the following morning of August 21, 1960 at 10:30. Mehmet did not know that Nasir was ill or dying.

Past Life Memories: Little Nasir Toksoz Remembers Dying from Head Trauma and a Past Life Son in Belgium

In the morning of August 21, 1960, the morning after Mehmet had his dream, a son was born to Mehmet and Medina. As he promised, Mehmet called the boy Nasir.

When Nasir Toksoz was between two and three years old, his mother went from their house to the village fountain to get water. When she returned, she observed Nasir sitting in their garden talking to himself. She stood quietly, in a way that Nasir could not see her, so she could listen to what he was saying.

Over and over again, Nasir said, “My son has gone to Belgium.” (2)

iisis4pastliferegressiontherapyturkeyBrugesBelgiumMedina then came up to Nasir and asked him, “Why are you speaking like that? Do you have sons?” (3)

Nasir said that he did and he named the four sons and one daughter that he remembered having in a past lifetime.

Nasir continued to give detailed information about his past lifetime to his parents. He said that in this prior incarnation, his name was also Nasir and that his wife was named Esma. Nasir said that his son’s names were Salih, Hasan, Zahir and Necim, and that he had a daughter named Elmas. Nasir said that his son Hasan was in Belgium. All these statements were correct for the family of Nasir Alev.

Nasir reported that he died after he fell down and he hit his head on a stone, which was correct. He also said that he had fallen from a balcony, though he may have been trying to communicate that that he had fallen under a balcony, which would have been an accurate statement.

Later on, little Nasir was able to point out the steps at the Alev home where he remembered falling down and hitting his head. His identification of the steps was accurate.

Nasir said that after he died and before he reincarnated, he appeared before God and gave an account of his life and conduct to God.

IISIS4PastLifeRegressionTherapyTurkeyOlivePast Life Relationship & Geographic Past Life Memory: Nasir Toksoz Meets his Past Life Daughter & from an Olive Grove, Leads her to his Past Life Home

When Nasir was between three and four years old, his mother took him to see her husband, Mehmet, who was working a few kilometers away in their olive orchard. The adjacent olive orchard was owned by the Aliv family. Once there, Nasir spontaneously recognized Elmas Alev, the daughter of Nasir Alev.

Little Nasir ran up to Elmas and said, “You are my daughter.” (4)

Elmas then asked Nasir, “Who are you?” (5)

Nasir replied, “I am your father.” (6)

Elmas then said that if Nasir was her father, he should be able to find her home in the village. Nasir then did this, leading Elmas back to the village along the main road, then turning and walking up small, hidden lanes directly to the Aliv home. On the way to the Alev house, little Nasir recognized people and places related to Nasir Alev.

Once at the Alev house, Nasir said, “This house is mine.” (7)

Near the Alev house, Esma, Nasir Alev’s widow, was standing with a group of other people. Without any assistance in making the recognition, little Nasir went up to Esma and said:

“You are my wife.” (8)

Nasir then went into the house and pointed out the location where he, as Nasir Alev, slept, which was an accurate identification.

Ian Stevenson retraced the path to the Alev home and noted that the house is not visible from the road and that Nasir’s ability to find it via the small lanes was an impressive feat.

This is reminiscent of the case of Anne Frank | Barbro Karlen, as Barbro, at ten years of age, was able to lead her parents from their hotel in Amsterdam directly to the Anne Frank House, even though Barbro had never been to Amsterdam before. The Anne Frank | Barbro Karlen case is very important as it shows that facial features and talents can remain the consistent from one lifetime to another, though religion and nationality can change from one incarnation to another.

Past Life Memories: Nasir Recognizes his Past Life Son, Zahir

Nasir Alev’s son, Zahir, was not present when Nasir found the Alev home. Later on, when Nasir and his mother, Medina, were on a village street, Medina noticed Zahir. She pointed to Zahir and asked Nasir, “Do you know your son.” (9)

Nasir replied, “There is my son Zahir.” (10)

iisis4pastliferegressiontherapyturkeyfallPast Life Emotions: Nasir Frequently Visits his Past Life Home

Once Nasir found the Alev family home, he would visit frequently. His past life family members would give him gifts, demonstrating their affection for Nasir and their apparent belief that he was indeed the reincarnation of their father.

It was noted that little Nasir would often run away from the Toksoz home to go the Aliv house without telling anyone. His father said that at times, he would stay for days at his past life residence. Nasir continued to visit the Alev home until he was at least 12 years of age.

In the Rashid Khaddege | Daniel Jurdi case, in adulthood, Daniel would visit his past life family once a month, where they kept a cot for him so that he could stay with them. Attachment to members of one’s past life family is frequently observed in reincarnation cases. The Rashid Kaddege | Daniel Jurdi case is also important as it shows that facial features can remain consistent from one incarnation to another.

A Past Life Phobia of Falling

Medina Toksoz, Nasir’s mother, observed that Nasir had a fear of high places, apparently related to having died from a fall in his prior incarnation.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

This compelling reincarnation case, if accepted, demonstrates the following features:

Soul Plan & Spirit Being Involvement: From the spirit realm, the soul of Nasir sent a dream to Mahmet indicating that he would reincarnate into Mahmet’s family.

Geographic Past Life Memory: Little Nasir was able to lead Elmas, his past life daughter, from the olive grove owned by Nasir Alev to the home of Nasir Toksoz, which was several kilometers away. Ian Stevenson noted that the Alev house was not visible from the main road and that getting there involved traveling along small, obscure lanes. Stevenson found Nasir’s ability to find his past life residence impressive.

Proximity Past Life Case & Relationships Renewed through Reincarnation: Nasir Alev was reincarnated in the Toksoz family, who lived 300 meters from the Alev home, which allowed Nasir Toksoz to find his past life family. As such, this is a proximity reincarnation case, where a soul reincarnates nearby the past life family to allow a reunion to take place.

Past Life Phobia: Nasir’s mother noted that Nasir had a fear of high places, which may have stemmed from the fall that ended the life of Nasir Alev.

Split Incarnation or Parallel Lives: Nasir Toksoz was born on the same morning that Nasir Alev died. As such, if it is assumed that the soul is involved in the development of the fetus, then the soul of Nasir Alev was animating the fetus of Nasir Toksoz for the entire nine months of gestation, while Nasir Alev was still alive.

Please note that the image provided at the top of this page is not of Nasir Alev, but of another individual suffering from tetanus.

A Case of Sudden Past Life Recall: A Boy Finds his Past Life Wife and Treasure

Reincarnation & Preservation of Past Life Personalities Within the Soul case study followed the story of a boy who found his past life wife and led her to a buried chest full of money. A researched and published case by a researcher named Krishanand.

Reincarnation & Preservation of Past Life Personalities Within the Soul

In xenoglossy cases, is it is often found that the past life personality presents completely intact, to the extent that the past life personality doesn’t even know that he or she is dead. These types of cases demonstrate that the soul has the ability to retain past life personalities within it.

Though the following case does not involve xenoglossy, it does demonstrates how a past life personality can emerge intact. The initial researcher who published the case was named Krishanand.

A Boy Finds his Way to his Past Life Home and Wife

IISISReincarnationResearchHiddenTreasureIn this case, a boy suddenly and unexpectedly started to relive the life of a man in a nearby city. The child told his parents where he had lived before. When his parents took him to the city that he named, the child found his way to his former home and he recognized a woman living there as his wife.

After finding his home and wife from his past incarnation, the child then told this woman specific details of their life together, which she verified as true. The boy then told the woman where he had buried some money. She followed the boy’s instructions and indeed found the money.

While the boy and his parents were still in the woman’s home, he suddenly come out of this past life episode and was puzzled to find himself in a completely unfamiliar home. There were no further episodes.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

The Soul Retains Personality: If this case is accepted, it shows how a past life personality can be preserved within the soul, which can emerge spontaneously. These types of cases differ from other reincarnation cases as the past life personality and the current personality appear not to be aware of one another. The preservation of personalities within the soul is discussed in the section, Soul Evolution.

Geographic Memory: In this case, the boy was able to spontaneously find his way to his past life home, as well as the location where he buried money.

Relationships Renewed through Reincarnation: The boy in this case was reunited with his past life wife.

Karma in Xenoglossy Past Life Story of a German Woman

Xenoglossy reincarnation story with bad karma, the story of an 1862, hypnotist in Hamburg, Germany, named Ricne Galitian, who hypnotized a poverty stricken German woman who spoke French. She described the events of a previous lifetime to which she attributed her present day life situation equating it as bad karma for an evil deed.

A Poor German Woman Speaks a Past Life Language: French

IISISReincarnationResearchXenoglossyEvidenceCliffThis case dates back to 1862, when a hypnotist in Hamburg, Germany, named Ricne Galitian, hypnotized a poverty stricken German woman who began speaking French. The German woman didn’t know French, yet she described events of a previous life in very good, conversational French. In her usual state of consciousness, she could only speak German.

Karma from a French Past Lifetime: Woman Pushed her Husband off a Cliff

The woman described the events of a previous lifetime in which she got rid of her husband by pushing him over a cliff. She attributed her poverty as karma related to this act.

Though this German woman’s past life memories could not be verified, the report of her xenoglossy is notable, as it is one of the earliest accounts of this phenomenon.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

If this is accepted as a reincarnation case, it demonstrates the following features:

Xenoglossy: The German woman in this case, who was poor and uneducated, could speak French when she was hypnotized, but in her waking consciousness, she would only speak German.

Change of Nationality: This case demonstrates that a person can change nationality from one incarnation to another, from French in a past lifetime to German in a subsequent lifetime.

An Arabic, Muslim Girl Speaks a Past Life Indian Language

Nawal Daw was born in Lebanon on April 25, 1960 to an Arabic, Muslim family. As a child, she would speak in a language unknown to her parents and she refused to learn Arabic until the age of five. As a child, she showed a preference for Indian food, music and dress.

When still a young girl, her parents took Nawal to a tourist spot in Lebanon. There, she saw people in Indian dress and she ran to them in an excited state. Nawal started to speak to them in their language and they responded to her in their language.

A person that Nawal spoke to was wearing a turban and beard that was rolled up, consistent with the Sikh culture. As such, the language was likely the Hindi or Punjabi.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

IISISReincarnationCasesEvidencesikhturbanxenoglossyXenoglossy: In this case, Nawal as a child spoke a language that she never learned by normal means. Her Arabic family couldn’t understand what language she was speaking, but Indian tourists in Lebanon could understand her and they responded to her in their language, which was most probably the Indian languages of Hindi or Punjabi. As Nawal was able to converse with the Indian tourists, this represents a case of responsive xenoglossy.

Change in Nationality, Ethnic Affliation and Religion: Nawal not only could speak an Indian language, she had a preference for Indian food, music and dress. As such, it is likely that Nawal had a past lifetime in India. Nawal was born into a Muslim family, but in her apparent Indian past lifetime, she would have likely been Hindu or Sikh. As such, nationality, ethnic affiliation and religion have changed from one lifetime to another.

Nai Leng Consciously Experiences Death & Rebirth: Past Life Story of Nai Leng | Chaokhun Rajsuthajarn (Choate)

Nai Leng, an avid practitioner of meditation, was able to consciously experience his death and rebirth into the body of an infant, Choate. Choate was destined to become a famous monk in Thailand and towards the end of his life, wrote an autobiography, published when he was 61 years old, 1969 where he explained that he was Nai Leng in prior life and that he was conscious during Nai Leng’s death and rebirth as the infant Choate.

This case is remarkable in that Nai Leng, who was an avid practitioner of meditation, was able to consciously experience his death and rebirth into the body of an infant. If this account is valid, it gives us fascinating insight into what happens with one of the most anxiety provoking of events in life that we face, that is, our own death.

The Lives of Nai Leng and his Sister Nang Rien

Nail Leng was born in 1863 in the small village of Ban Kraton, which is near the city of Surin, in Thailand. This area is near the Cambodian border and there are pockets of Cambodians who live in the area, whose speak the Cambodian language which is called Khmer.

Nai Leng was the eldest of 7 children. His father was Wa Sawa and his mother was Ma Chama, though she was called by her nickname, Ee Mah.

Nai Leng and his Sister Witness a Birth on the Side of a Road

Nai Leng was very close to his sister, Nang Rien, who was a year younger than him. When he was 15 years of age, Nai Leng had an unusual experience. He and Nang Rien finished working in the fields and were walking home when they encountered a woman on the road who had just delivered a baby. The woman’s husband was attempting to bring his wife to her mother’s home for the delivery, but they didn’t make it in time. The woman was resting with her newborn child before they continued on their journey. The sight made a strong impression on Nai Leng.

Nai Leng Enters a Monastary and Learns to Read Cambodian or Khmer

When he was 16 years of age, Nai Leng entered a Buddhist monastery, where they had a set of Buddhist scriptures written in Khmer. Though Nai Leng’s native language was Thai, he learned to read the scriptures written in Khmer. This was not an easy feat, as the Khmer alphabet characters are very different from Thai characters. Choate became so adept that eventually he taught other monks how to read the Khmer scriptures. In addition to studying Buddhist texts, mediation was a central activity of the monks.

Nai Leng Becomes Fluent in Laotian

When he was 25 years old, Nai Leng decided to leave the monastery to become a farmer. In addition to growing crops, Nai Leng made money by trading goods. He would travel by oxcart in this pursuit and frequently visited Laos, so much so that he became fluent in Laotian. He married and eventually had three daughters, whose names were Pa, Poh and Pi. Though he was no longer a monk, Nail Leng continued to be a devout Buddhist and meditated every night. (1)

Nang Rien becomes a Nun while Pregnant

ReincarnationNang Rien, Nai Leng’s younger sister, eventually married and had 3 children. When she was 45 years old, she became pregnant once again. The year was 1908. During this pregnancy, in contrast to her previous pregnancies, Nang Rien became deeply spiritual and even decided to become a Buddhist nun. She shaved her hair, put on a white robe and moved to the Wat Takien monastery, which was 9 miles or 15 kilometers from Ban Kraton, the village where Nang Rien and Nai Leng lived. (2)

Nai Leng develops an Illness, Dies and Reincarnates as Choate

While Nang Rien was in the monastery, just before she returned home to delivery her baby, her brother Nai Leng developed a fever. Nang Rien traveled back to Ban Kraton during her brother’s illness and arrived home, where she delivered her child on October 12, 1908, who was named Chaokhun Rajsuthajarn, though he would be known in the family by his nickname, which was Choate. Nai Leng was ill for 6 days before he died on October 13, 1908 at the age of 45. As such, Choate was born one day before Nai Leng died. (3)

Choate was destined to become a famous monk in Thailand and towards the end of his life, he wrote an autobiography, which was published when Choate was 61 years of age in the year 1969. In this book, Choate explains that in his prior incarnation, he was Nai Leng and that he was conscious during Nai Leng’s death and rebirth as the infant Choate.

Split Incarnation, Parallel Lives, Twin Souls, Twin Flames or Cases with Anomalous Dates: Overlapping Lifetimes

Parallel Lives or Split ReincarnationThe reader may object that this is not possible, as Chaote was born a day before Nai Leng died, but this phenomenon of a soul inhabiting more than one body at a time is observed in a number of scientifically researched reincarnation cases. Ian Stevenson referred to these as cases with “anomalous dates,” referring to the overlap of lifetimes. I refer to this phenomenon as “split incarnation,” as the soul is able to split its energy into more than one body. Other terms used for this phenomenon include parallel lives, twin souls or twin flames. In this case, the soul of Nai Leng was animating both the body of Nai Leng and the body of the infant Choate at the same time for a period of about a day. To review cases of this type, go to: Split Incarnation

Nai Leng’s Death Experience with Remote Viewing

Let us review Choate’s own account of being aware of events during the death of Nai Leng and his rebirth as Choate. In this narrative, Chaote describes how he was able to telepathically be aware of the activites of his sister, Nang Rien, at the the temple where she was a nun, which was 9 miles away from Nai Leng’s home. This ability to witness events telepathically at a distant location is termed: Remote Viewing

Let us now go back to the time to when Nang Rien was in the 7th month of her pregnancy, at around the time she became a Buddhist nun and moved to the monastery, which is 2 months before she came home to give birth and 2 months before Nai Leng died. The following narration is from Choate’s autobiography, as he recalls the end of his life as Nai Leng. The setting is Nai Leng’s home in August 1908.

Nai Leng Experiences Remote Viewing During his Illness

“In the year of 1908, when I [as Nai Leng] was 45 years old, and had already had 3 children, Nang Rien was in the 7th month of her pregnancy. It was the 8th month of that year. I, Nai Leng, had already been sick on and off for several months. During that period of time, this brother and sister [Nai Leng and Nang Rien] recurrently saw each other in their dreams. On Nang Rien’s part, ever since conception, she had an extraordinarily passionate faith in Buddhism, especially with regard to meditation….Indeed, she even wanted to become a bhikkhuni [a nun]. So, on the eve of Buddhist Lent of that year, still being pregnant of course, she left her mother and husband for a monastery…

While Nang Rien was at the wat praying and meditating, I, Nai Leng was lying sick at home. However, I felt as if I was well aware of Nang Rien’s activities at the wat… All the while that Nang Rien was praying and meditating, I not only knew it, but I saw it.

As it appeared to me, I was always …approximately 2 meters behind her. I never did talk to her…. My eyes never seemed to blink at all. I was merely staring at her, so constantly that I forgot to take notice of my own state of being, that is, how I was able to move along with her… Even while she was praying before the Buddha’s image, I was still looking at her from behind. Then she lit the main pair of candles and three joss sticks [incense sticks]… After having lit all the candles, she started to pray again…Then she would put her hands down, close her eyes, and continue praying until all the joss sticks and candles were burned away…”

Nai Leng Delivers her Son, Choate-Nai Leng Reincarnated

“All along, I knew and saw her activities. But, on the day of her return [from the wat to Ban Kratom], I felt somewhat confused and could not remember anything…I then were recalled that I was sick. One day, there were 4 persons in the house–3 female relatives and Nai Leng’s wife. I opened my eyes and saw and heard what they were saying to each other: ‘At 9 o’clock last night Nan Rien delivered a cute little boy’…I was thinking that if I were normal, I would have gone to visit her also. But here I was, lying sick. All I could do was merely listen to their conversation.

At the moment I felt anguish, and wanted to change from the lying position to a more comfortable one. Seeing that they [the other persons present] were busy talking to each other, I did not ask for their help. Besides, I could not even make my voice heard. Therefore, I tried to turn toward the side wall by myself. I succeeded, but could not retain my balance in that position. So once again, I was lying on my back. I told myself to be content for a while with that degree of comfort.” (4)

Nai Leng’s Out of Body Experience, Death & Awareness of of Events while Out of his Body

“Thinking that I might be better off if I went to sleep, I then sighed deeply a few times and closed my eyes. At this very moment, I felt as if I was back to normal again. I felt stronger and could move much more rapidly from place to place. My body was light, as if it had no weight. I was so glad that I rushed up to join the conversation of my relatives. But no one noticed me. I grabbed this one’s hand and pulled that one’s arm, to draw their attention. Still, no one did anything.

The time came to prepare another meal of the day. My relatives were getting ready to leave. One of them felt Nai Leng’s feet. I was then behind her, trying to seize her hand and shoulder. I yelled out, ‘I am here. I am no longer sick. I have recovered already. Do not be afraid or frightened. Do not panic, I am alright.’ However, I could not make them understand.

They were crying and moaning. Some of them went to tell other relatives and friends in the neighborhood. The latter were now pouring into the house.” (5)

Nai Leng Experiences the Expanded Consciousness of the Soul

“At that moment, I felt if I were omnipresent: I could simultaneously see people coming in from 2 or 3 different directions. Moreover, I could be there to receive them all at the same time. I could also hear their voices as well as see things quite clearly.

Far distant places appeared to be near, because I could move very rapidly from place to place. I could immediately be there to hear or see. There seemed to be no obstacle [to movement or vision] and all.

At the same time I was thinking: ‘I am an appointed head of the hosts; I am great. I am the master of ceremonies who has the final word on all matters. I have so great an authority that none can possibly obstruct or encroach upon it.’ However, I was satisfied with what my relatives have done so far. I was so deeply grateful that I did not feel hunger or thirsty. I was so carried away in this enchanting state of emotion that I forgot to sleep and to eat. Nor did I ever feel tired.” (6)

After Death Nai Leng Attends his Own Funeral

“During the whole of the funeral ceremony (I learned later that it was 3 days), I felt somewhat elevated–by about the height of an average person–above the others. In other words, if others sat, I felt I was standing; if they were standing or walking, I felt as if I were standing or walking on something the level of which was higher than theirs. While the funeral procession was on its way to the cremation, I was sitting in the cart’s curve, the highest part of the cart. That cart, to be sure, did not have a curve; it was merely my feeling that I was at that level. [This refers to a curved frame that could be attached to the cart to hold in materials, such as sacks of rice that were that were being carried in it, but that would be removed during the transport of a body in a coffin.]

After the cremation, my relatives gathered the remains. They then invited monks for the ‘remains ceremony,’ which was the last phase of the funeral. It was about 8 o’clock in the evening when the monks finished chanting. My preoccupation with the reception of the guests was somewhat reduced by then. The women who came to help went up to sleep in the house, while the men slept in a disorderly group in a building constructed especially for the ceremony.

On the porch of this building, 3 elderly men was sitting around the stove. They were either chewing Thai gum or smoking cigarettes. They might be considered night watchman of a sort. All of a sudden, a thought of Nang Rien flashed into my mind. ‘I heard that she had just given birth to a child. I have not yet paid her a visit, because I was so busy receiving guests. Now I’m free to go.’” (7)

Nai Leng visits Nang Rein, Who Sees Him as a Ghost

“At the time, I was at the place where the monks were sitting in the wat where the cremation was held. With the said in mind, I turned in the direction of Nang Rien’s house, which was of approximately 200 meters away to the west. No sooner had I decided to move than I was there.

The child, as my relatives had said, was really cute and adorable. I thought to myself: How can I possibly have a chance to touch him and to give him my heartfelt kiss? Nang Rien was then sleeping with her right hand over the child. Before long, she opened her eyes, saw me, and said: ‘My dear brother, you have already departed for another world. Please go to that place which will offer you happiness. Please do not make any more appearances to your brothers and sisters, nor feel concerned about them.’

This was the only time that people ever noticed me and talked to me. I felt so awkward that I went and hid. I was leaning on the wall in front of her room, facing north.” (8)

Reincarnation: Nai Leng Enters Choate’s Infant Body

“After a while, thinking that she was again asleep, I came out to get another glimpse of the child. She again opened her eyes and said the same thing to me. I went back to hide. I told myself that the time had come for me to decide once and for all. I was torn between two feelings. Although I would like to stay, yet I should go; indeed I must go. Before leaving, however, I wish to get another good look at the child. This time I dared not approach lest she reproach me once more. Thus, I poked only my head out. After obtaining a good look, I started to go away again.

As soon as I turned, my body began spinning like a top. I could not regain my balance. I tried to cover my head, face and ears with my hands before I fell unconscious. At that point I thought I was dead.

I did not know how long it was before I regained consciousness. I was wondering where I was. Concentration and recollection told me that not long before this I was Nai Leng. I felt myself full of vigor. Recalling all of the past, I wondered why I was in such a helpless condition. I felt somewhat frustrated.” (9)

As an Infant, Choate Recognizes his Past Life Relatives

iisisreincarnationresearchbabywithoutreachedarms“Later on, I was very glad I could turn to lie on my stomach. Even more so when I could recognize everyone who came to see me. I remembered their names. I waved my hands and tried to call them. However, only guttural sounds, normal to babies, came out. Someone noticed my gesturing and held me up. I was very glad and I laughed heartily. During this period, there were more reward joyful moments then sorrowful ones.”

Choate Learns to Talk and Calls his Past Life Relatives by Name

“Then came another period during which I learned to walk and talk. One day when my grandmother came, instead of calling her that, I used the word mother. I was governed by past acquaintance in my own memory.” (11)

The grandmother, Ma Chama, was surprised that Choate called her mother and asked: “Well, what is your name then?”

Choate then responded, “’It is Leng.” In his autobiography, Choate continues: “I wondered why they could not recognize me. I was Nai Leng right then and there.” (12)

“Suddenly, Nang Rien exclaimed: ‘No wonder. I saw brother Leng sometimes during the postpartum period. He must have been reborn.’ She then asked: ‘If so, son, what is your name again? What about your wife’s? Where did you live?’ And so on and so forth. I gave correct answers to all questions. They give all concluded that Nai Leng had been reborn.” (13)

Let us review the passage of these events. Choate was born on October 12, 1908. When he learned to speak, though his mother explained who his aunts and uncles were, he still insisted to refer to his uncles and aunts as his brothers and sisters, as if he was still Nai Leng. Similarly, he called his grandmother, Ma Chama, “mother.” She was actually Nai Leng’s mother.

Nai Leng’s Daughters come to believe that Choate is the Reincarnation of their Father

Nai Leng’s daughter, Pa, was 24 years old when he died. When Choate was 4 years old, he recognized her and said, “I am your father” and he called her by her baby nickname. At first Choate’s statements annoyed Pa, but as time went on, she became convinced that Choate was her father reborn.

Poh, Nai Leng’s second daughter, said that as a boy Choate had referred to incidents in her father’s life that Choate could not have known. She said that Choate as a child recognized persons known by her father on sight and called them by their names.

Pi, Nai Leng’s third daughter, recalled that Choate became angry when Nai Leng’s daughters, that is, Pa, Poh and Pi, would not refer to him as “father.”

Nai Leng’s sister, Nem, said that Choate recognized her by name as soon as he could speak. As a child, Choate also recognized Nai Leng’s wife and called her by name and he also correctly named other people Nai Leng had known. (14)

Like a Dalai Lama, Choate identifies his Past Life Possessions

As a child, Choate could correctly separate items belonging to Nai Leng from items that belonged to others. This ability to identify past life possessions is traditionally used by Buddhist monks to identify the reincarnation of a Dalia Lama. (15)

Choate has a Past Life Memory of a Woman who gave Birth on a Road

As a teenager, Choate spontaneously recalled the event that occurred when Nai Leng was 15 years old, in which Nai Leng encountered the woman who had given birth on a road. Choate’s mother, Nang Rien, who was with Nai Leng when this occurred, confirmed the incident. In Choate’s autobiography, he describes the memory.

“I was Nai Leng at the age of 15. It was an evening at the beginning of the planting season. After finishing the day’s work, my sister, Nang Rien, and I walked home as usual. On our way back, we came across a woman who was resting after having just delivered a child on the road.

The husband was a native of Ban Nua, but his wife came from Ban Tai. His wife had want very much to deliver her child and her mother’s place. As the time for her delivery approached, she insistently asked her husband to take her there. Her husband finally agreed, but not until she was almost due to deliver her baby. By the time the cart reached the place in question, her labor had started. Her husband stopped the cart, untied the oxen and prepared a place for his wife to rest. This was something I’d never seen before. It was strange to me, and as a consequence, it deeply impressed me.” (16)

Though Choate had this memory from his past incarnation as Nai Leng, he did not have comprehension of where this birth occurred. One day, he was tending to cattle that he had taken to feed in pastures. At a particular location, he had a Déjà vu experience. He realized that he was at the spot where the woman gave birth to the child on the road, that he witnessed during his life as Nai Leng. Choate narrates the next scene.

Choate experiences Déjà Vu and Geographic Memory

“As soon as I arrived home that evening, I asked my mother whether any woman had delivered a baby at that place. She said: ‘Yes, but that happened when I was 14 years old and was returning from the field with my 15-year-old brother.’ The brother was I, who had become the youngest son of the sister.” (17)

I term the stimulation of past life memories by a past life location: Geographic Memory

Xenoglossy: Choate Spontaneously is able to Understand Khmer

At age 16, Choate became a Buddhist monk and entered a monastery, repeating the pattern of Nai Leng’s life. This monastery had Buddhist scriptures written in the Khmer, or Cambodian, language. Choate noticed monks reading these Khmer texts and though he was only schooled in the Thai language, he took some of the Khmer manuscripts to his room to see if he could decipher them. Recall that the Khmer alphabet characters are very different from those of the Thai language.

Choate found that he could not read the Khmer manuscripts at first, but on his third attempt, he could understand them without difficulty. In his autobiography, Choate describes this experience.

“The book [written Khmer] had 10 leaves. I went through it within an hour or so. Being afraid that the first reading might not be correct, I began all over again. This reading also took me about an hour. I was not quite satisfied yet, so I read it for the third time. I was very glad as well as surprised that I could read it without having any lessons before. A lot of people have put great effort into it year in and year out, yet only a few succeeded. Later on, I began to write as well as read Khmer… From then on I could read any canonical work, be it in Thai or Khmer. The reason is simple: I was already quite well-versed in it since I had been a monk as Leng. To be sure, part of it was forgotten, but this is only natural.” (18)

This ability to understand a language that has not been learned is called: Xenoglossy

Xenoglossy: Choate Spontaneously is able to Understand Laotian

Another incident that involves xenoglossy occurred. When he was a 19-year-old monk, Choate noticed that villagers around the monastery were speaking Laotian. Choate approached these villagers and found that he could converse with them fluently, even though he was not taught Laotian. For this ability, Choate drew on his past life knowledge of Loatian, which had been learned by Nai Leng. (19)

Choate becomes an Abbot or Head of a Monastery

As Choate grew older, his memories of his life as Nai Leng did not fade, which he attributed to his dedication to the practice of meditation over the course of two lifetimes. Choate died in 1976 at 68 years of age as one of the most respected monks and abbots of Thailand.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

Xenoglossy: This case demonstrates what Ian Stevenson, MD termed responsive xenoglossy, where an individual can converse in a language that has not been learned by normal means. In contrast, Stevenson termed the ability to recite or speak an unlearned language without the ability to respond or converse in that language “recitative xenoglossy.”

In this case, Choate, who was only taught the Thai language, was able to converse with individuals from Laos in the Laotian language. In addtion, Choate was able to read Buddhist scriptures written in the Cambodian or Khmer language, even though he never was taught or Khmer. These two languages were learned by Nai Leng and Choate drew upon this past life ability to understand Laotian and Khmer.

Split Incarnation: Choate was born on October 12, 1908, while Nai Leng died the next day on October 13, 1908, which means the soul of Nai Leng animated the bodies of the Nai Leng and the infant Choate at the same time for a period of about a day.

Relationships Renewed through Reincarnation: This case shows that people can reincarnate within the same family, as Nai Leng reincarnated and was born to his own sister, Nai Rien.

ReincarnationExperience of Death & Spirit Being Involvement: Nai Leng experienced remote viewing in observing Nai Rien while she was at the temple. He also consciously experienced his death and the expanded consciousness of the soul. He attended his own funeral and followed his body as it was being taken to the temple for cremation and he attended the reception after the funeral where he observed his relatives who had gathered for the reception. Nai Leng also was conscious of his rebirth as Choate and what it feels like to be a helpless infant.

Note to Readers: Ian Stevenson. MD was a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Virginia who wrote in a very academic style, as his target audience was fellow scientists. On the IISIS web site, his past life identity cases are presented as children’s past life-reincarnation stories to make his academic work easier to understand. For those interested in appreciating the scientific rigor of his research, such as his use of multiple witnesses to establish corroborated testimony, please refer to the original reports written by Dr. Ian Stevenson.

Xenoglossy Reincarnation Case of Jenson Jacoby | TE Past Life Personality Retained Intact within the Soul

Under hypnosis or past life regression, A physician’s wife starts speaking Swedish. In sessions conducted from 1955 to 1956, Tania’s hypnosis, revealed a personality named Jensen Jacoby who spoke Swedish and claimed to be Tanya’s past life.

Under Hypnosis or Past Life Regression, A Physician’s Wife Starts Speaking Swedish

IISISReincarnationPastLifeResearchHypnosis (1)This case involves a physician who practiced medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his wife. As this physician wished to keep his identity private, Ian Stevenson documented the case using pseudonyms for the couple. Stevenson referred to the couple as KE, the physician, and TE, his wife. Since using initials makes it difficult to remember who is who, I will assign them first names for simplicity. KE will be called Ken and his wife, TE, will be referred to as Tania.

In addition to practicing mainstream medicine, Ken learned to do hypnosis in 1954 and he would practice on his wife. Ken found Tania to be a good hypnosis subject.

In sessions conducted from 1955 to 1956, when Tania was under hypnosis, a personality emerged who spoke Swedish, a language that neither Tania nor Ken knew. As such, this represents a case of xenoglossy, where an individual can speak a language that has not been learned through normal means.

Tania was born in Philadelphia and as such, English was her native language. Her parents, who were Jewish, were born in Odessa, Russia. No one in the family had ever been to Scandinavia and they knew no one who could speak Swedish.

Ian Stevenson Validates of Tania’s Xenoglossy: Lie Detector Tests Employed in this Reincarnation Case

IISISReincarnationResearchPolygraphLieDetectorIan Stevenson, as usual, studied this case in meticulous detail. He had three different Swedish people sign statements confirming that the language Tania was speaking was indeed Swedish. In the statements, it was noted that the accent was that of a natural Swedish speaker.

Stevenson also had transcripts and tape recordings analyzed by Swedish linguistic experts, who confirmed that Tania was speaking Swedish in a conversational manner. These experts also testified that an excellent Swedish accent was being spoken and that the language was an old form of Swedish, identified as Middle Swedish. Stevenson counted a vocabulary of over 100 Swedish words spoken by Tania.

In addition, Ian Stevenson had Ken and Tania take polygraph or lie detector tests to rule out fraud, which they passed. Stevenson concluded that this was a genuine case of responsive xenoglossy, in which Tania could carry on a conversation in Swedish.

Past Life Personality Jensen Jacoby Emerges and Describes Being Driven into Water & Struck on the Head

In Tania’s first hypnosis or past life regression session, she went back into a lifetime in which she, and a group of old people, were being forced into a body of water. Tania then felt she was being hit in the head and she experienced severe head pain. Due to her apparent suffering, Ken took Tania out of the hypnotic state. Still, Tania experienced head pain for the next two days and she repeatedly felt her head, looking for a lump.

In a subsequent session, Ken told Tania to go back ten years before the episode in which she was hit on the head. Tina then said, in English, in a deep masculine voice, “I am a man.” The personality with the deep voice stated that his name was Jenson Jacoby and that he was a farmer. (1)

In eight sessions that were held between 1955 and 1956, Jenson Jacoby appeared. In the first five sessions, he could understand and reply in English, but his English was halting and it was spoken with a heavy Swedish accent. Jenson could also speak and understand Norwegian. In sessions 6 through 8, Jenson only spoke Swedish. Tina had no memory of what happened in the hypnosis sessions when Jensen appeared.

iisisreincarnationpastliferesearchbearOn the Swedish Coast, Past Life Personality Jenson Jacoby Raises Livestock, Eats Salmon & Hunts Bears

Jenson described that he lived in a tiny village called Morby Hagar, which was near a harbor town called Havero. Another nearby town was called Torohaven. Jensen related that he raised cows, horses, goats and chickens. He baked bread and made goat cheese. Jenson said that he would take his produce to be sold at Havero, the town with a sea harbor. At times, his family would eat salmon, which presumably came from the harbor town.

Jenson related that he was one of three sons. He had a wife whose name was Latvia, who made poppy-seed cakes and poppy-seed juice. The couple had no children. Jenson related that he built his own stone house, that he hunted for bears and that he liked to drink at a tavern. Jenson related that he worshiped Jesus Christ.

Past Life Personality Jenson Does Impersonations

IISISReincarnationPastLifeResearchSkuta2In one session, Jensen, speaking Swedish, did a comical impersonation of a drunken man at an inn trying to sing. Jenson also showed strong emotion when he was shown a picture of a horse, apparently as it reminded him of home.

Xenoglossy: Jenson Knows Swedish Terms, Including a Skuta

Jenson knew of Swedish things from prior centuries. For example, when shown a model of a Swedish seventeenth century sailing ship, Jenson correctly called it a “skuta” or “skute.” He also correctly named a Swedish container used to measure grain. When shown a picture of a wolf, he correctly named it in Swedish.

In contrast, when shown a modern tool, such as a pair of pliers, Jenson could not name it.

Jenson’s Past Life Hatred for War & Russians

Jenson described a hatred for warfare and a fear of Russians. When asked how his life ended, Jenson related that he was engaged in some type of fight with enemies, was forced into a body of water and received a blow to the head, which apparently killed him.

This statement corresponds to the memory that Tania experienced when she was first put under hypnosis, as well as her subsequent headache, which made her search for a lump on her head.

Reincarnation versus Possession

IISISReincarnationPastLifeResearchSwedenMapIan Stevenson, firmly believed in the legitimacy of the case of Jenson Jacoby | TE. He notes that the physician who conducted the hypnosis sessions on his wife, KE, who we have named Ken, never sought publicity for the case. Based on the polygraph testing and his familiarity with the couple involved, Stevenson rejected that any fraud was involved.

Stevenson concluded that Jenson Jacoby had once lived on the west coast of Sweden, near Norway, in the seventeenth century. Gothenburg is the largest city in this area. Place your cursor on the map to enlarge it and arrow keys to scroll up and down.

As Tania, or TE, had no memory of what occurred when Jensen appeared, Stevenson did raise the question of whether this represented a case of reincarnation or of possession by a discarnate spirit. Either way, Stevenson commented that the case represented strong evidence for the survival of personality after death.

Stevenson did feel that reincarnation may be the more plausible explanation. In defense of this position, he posed the following question:

If Jenson was a discarnate spirit, why would the Christian, Swedish spirit from the seventeenth century, Jenson Jacoby, show up in Philadelphia in 1955, speaking through a Jewish woman of Russian descent?

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

Xenoglossy: Jenson only spoke Swedish, a language that Tania did not learn or understand.

Change of Religion and Nationality: Jenson was a Swedish Christian who feared Russians, while Tania was Jewish and of Russian heritage.

Soul Retains Personality Intact: Jenson came through Tania as if he were stuck in time, unaware that he was dead or that Tania had a separate existence. As such, it appears that Jenson’s personality had been retained intact within the soul.

Other xenoglossy cases which dramatically demonstrate this phenomenon include the Sharada | Uttara Huddar case and the Gretchen | Dolores Jay case.

Xenoglossy-Unlearned Language: Past Life Story of Gretchen Gottlieb | Dolores Jay

Past Life Personality: Who was Gretchen? Carroll Jay was a Methodist Christian minister who started to practice hypnosis in 1954. His wife, Dolores, was having back pain and on May 10, 1970, Carroll conducted a hypnosis session with the aim of relieving his wife’s pain. When, in hypnosis, Dolores, speaks in German, and later revealed she was Gretchen in her past life resulting to an investigation of a Xenoglossy reincarnation case.

During Hypnosis or Past Life Regression, Gretchen, a Past Life Personality, Emerges

Carroll Jay was a Methodist Christian minister who started to practice hypnosis in 1954, initially to help people get relief from chronic pain. In the 1960’s, he started to experiment with past life regression.

Dolores, his wife, was having back pain and on May 10, 1970, Carroll conducted a hypnosis session with the aim of relieving his wife’s pain. When, in hypnosis, Carroll asked Dolores, “Does your back hurt?” she replied in German, “Nein,” which means “No.” (1)

On May 13, 1970, in another hypnosis session, Dolores said in German, “Ich Bin Gretchen,” which means “I am Gretchen.” (2)

In hypnosis sessions conducted over the next few months, Gretchen appeared repeatedly and spoke only German. After 10 such sessions, a native German speaker was invited to participate in a session, who had a conversation with Gretchen in German. On April 23, 1971, Dolores wrote 40 words in German during a manifestation of Gretchen.

Of interest, the handwriting of Gretchen was different than the handwriting of Dolores Jay. This infers that handwriting does not necessarily stay the same from one incarnation to another.

Dolores had never learned German and she could not understand or speak German in her normal state of consciousness. As such, this represents a case of xenoglossy, where a person can speak a language that was not learned through normal means. As discussed below, xenoglossy is considered to be strong evidence of reincarnation.

Xenoglossy: Ian Stevenson, MD Validates Gretchen is Speaking German

When Ian Stevenson, pictured to the right, heard about this xenoglossy case, he traveled to Mt. Orab, Ohio, where the Jays lived, to research the case. On September 2, 1971, Stevenson, who knew German, participated in a session and had a conversation with Dolores in German. Stevenson enlisted several other German speaking individuals to participate in the hypnosis sessions where Gretchen emerged and they also had conversations with her in German.

On March 25, 1974, Dolores came to Ian Stevenson’s laboratory at the University of Virginia. Dr. Stevenson and a colleague, Ms. Elisabeth Day, had conversations with Gretchen in German. Ian Stevenson and Ms. Day transcribed conversations they had with Gretchen spanning 19 sessions. Six sessions were tape recorded. These transcripts totaled 346 double spaced typewritten pages. Transcripts of sessions are provided in the appendix of Ian Stevenson’s book, Unlearned Language.

Stevenson found that Gretchen spoke 237 different German words in these transcripts. She used 120 specific words before anyone else had said them, which indicates that she was not just mimicking conversation. In one session that was taped, Gretchen introduced 96 German words that were not previously spoken by interviewers, 21 of which neither Gretchen, nor interviewers, had ever spoken before. Stevenson had three different German speakers sign statements that Gretchen was truly speaking German.

Xenoglossy: Ian Stevenson has Dolores take a Lie Detector Test & Affidavits Signed-Dolores Never Learned German

As noted, Dolores Jay did not know German, other than a few words such as “Nein,” which most Americans would know. As such, this represents a case of xenoglossy where an individual can speak a language that was not learned by normal means. Ian Stevenson notes that a language must be learned and practiced at some point in time. If a language was not learned in the contemporary incarnation, then it must have been learned in a prior incarnation.

ReincarnationResearchPolygraphLieDetectorIan Stevenson went to great lengths to rule out that Dolores may have learned German by normal means. Stevenson even had Dolores undergo a polygraph, or lie detector test, on February 5, 1974. She passed the lie detector test, vouching that she had not learned or known German prior to Gretchen emerging.

Stevenson also interviewed Dolores’s parents, Boyd and Laura Skidmore, as well as her sister, Mary. All three signed statements that no one they knew spoke German and that there were no German speaking individuals in the area where they lived.

Further, Gretchen could converse in German in an interactive way; she could both understand and respond in German. Ian Stevenson terms this form of xenoglossy as “responsive xenoglossy,” which indicates a firm comprehension of the language. In conversations, Gretchen could understand German and English, but she only would speak in German.

Past Life Personality: Who was Gretchen?

ReincarnationResearchHorseBackRidingIn sessions, Gretchen rarely spoke spontaneously, rather, she replied politely to questions, like a well-behaved girl. She said her name was Gretchen Gottlieb and that she lived with her father, whose name was Herman. She described him as old, with white hair. Gretchen would chuckle when describing her father riding a horse. She said her mother, Erika, had died when Gretchen was 8 years old. She had no brothers or sisters.

Gretchen said her father was the Mayor of Eberswalde, Germany, where they lived. She said that they resided on a street called Birkenstrasse. Gretchen described Eberwalde as a small town with a bakery, butcher shop, church and a college. There was a forest and river outside the town. She also spoke of the cities of Worms and Wiesbaden.

Gretchen related that a housekeeper named Frau Schilder would come to their home to cook and clean. Gretchen stated that Frau Schilder would bring her own four children to the Gottlieb’s home and that she, Gretchen, would play with the children. In fact, she said she spent most of her time in their kitchen, caring for the children. She gave names for the four of them and stated the youngest was three years old.

Gretchen said that she never went to school, which was normal for girls at that time, and that she could not read or write. Gretchen was Roman Catholic and she knew that the Pope was the head of the church. She was opposed to the Protestant Reformation and she referred to Martin Luther several times as a troublemaker. She repeated the phrase, “Martin Luther, betrayer of the people,” several times. (3)

reincarnationresearchbrandenburggateGretchen repeatedly showed fear and even paranoia when she talked about the Bundesrat. Ian Stevenson noted that the Bundesrat was a cabinet in Germany that was active from 1875-1900, which was powerful in that it had to approve all bills before they became law. Due to her statement regarding the Bundesrat, Stevenson assumed that Gretchen lived in the late nineteenth century in Germany, when the Bundesrat was in existence.

Gretchen said that she was dead by the age of 16. She said she had a serious illness with the primary symptom of headache. She would put her hand to her head and made a facial expression which conveyed suffering.

Like in the Sharada | Uttara Huddar case, at times Gretchen did not seem to realize that she was dead. In some sessions, Gretchen thought that she was speaking to interviewers on the street near her home. She would plead to the interviewers, such as Stevenson, that she had to go home, as her father would be upset if he found she was talking to strangers.

As such, this represents another case in which it appears that a soul has retained a past life personality intact.

Confirmation of Gretchen’s Statements

Ian Stevenson tried to confirm Gretchen’s statements. As noted, she did discuss the Bundesrat, which was indeed a cabinet in Germany that was active from 1875-1900.

The town of Eberswalde did exist, but there was no mayor by the name of Gottlieb on record. Stevenson reasoned that her father may have been a lesser official or that Gretchen may have been an illegitimate daughter of a Mayor of Eberswalde, who was given the name Gottlieb after her birth. It is also possible that Gretchen was speaking of a different town called Eberswald, which eventually was incorporated into a larger city.

Reincarnation versus Possession

Ian Stevenson raised the issue that the Gretchen Gottlieb | Dolores Jay case may represent a case of possession, where Gretchen was a discarnate spirit who temporarily took over the body of Dolores Jay. This issue of reincarnation versus possession was discussed in some detail in the Sharada | Uttara Huddar xenoglossy case.

ReincarnationResearchMartinLuther's portraitTwo incidents support reincarnation as the explanation for the xenoglossy of Dolores Jay. First, in 1968, Dolores had a dream which occurred a year before Gretchen emerged. In this dream, Dolores saw a young girl sitting in a saddle on a horse, with an older man on foot. A crowd had gathered consisting of angry people with sticks and stones. A man burst through the crowd and grabbed the bridle of her horse. At that point, Dolores awoke.

This dream is reminiscent of scenes Gretchen later described regarding her life. Gretchen described her father as an elderly man with white hair and she chuckled when she described him riding a horse. She also called Martin Luther a trouble maker and a “betrayer of the people.” The crowd’s anger in the dream could reflect conflict related to the Protestant Reformation in Germany, which Martin Luther led. An image of Martin Luther is provided to the right.

Memories of past lives often occur in the dream state and as such, this dream would support reincarnation as the explanation for the xenoglossy that Dolores later would demonstrate.

Secondly, during a hypnosis session, Carroll Jay instructed Gretchen to have a vision that Dolores could describe in English. Dolores then said, in English, that she saw herself being taken away to a city far away. There, she saw a man speaking at a church. Mounted policemen then dispersed the crowd. A young girl and an older man, presumably Gretchen and her father, became frightened and ran away.

When her husband asked Dolores who the young girl in the vision was, Dolores said, “It was me.” (4)

Conclusions & Reincarnation Case Analysis

Having worked with Carroll and Dolores Jay for several years on this xenoglossy case, Ian Stevenson was able to get to know them very well and he became convinced that they were being honest and forthright in their statements. He noted that for Dolores, as a Christian, reincarnation conflicted with her belief system. Her husband, Carroll, observed that Dolores was “bewildered and a little scared,” by her ability to speak German. (5)

Carroll Jay also struggled with his wife’s xenoglossy, as it make life difficult for him as a Methodist Christian minister. On January 20, 1975, the Washington Post published a newspaper article on the xenoglossy demonstrated by Dolores. When their community members read the article, some of them accused the Jays with dealing with the devil.

Overall, Ian Stevenson, MD, saw no reason for the Jays or their family to make false statements and he believed this to be a legitimate xenoglossy case. If reincarnation is indeed accepted as the explanation, we see how talents, including the ability to speak a language, can be conveyed from one incarnation to another.

Further, as Gretchen emerged with her personality intact, along with the observation that at times she didn’t realize that she was dead, this case demonstrates how the soul can retain its personalities. This phenomenon was also observed in the Sharada | Uttara Huddar and Jensen Jacoby | TE reincarnation xenoglossy cases and is discussed in Origin of the Soul and the Purpose of Reincarnation.

Principles of Reincarnation & Understanding Past Lives

Responsive Xenoglossy: Dolores Jay under hypnosis could speak and respond in German, a language she did not understand in her waking consciousness. It appears that Dolores accessed this ability from a past lifetime as Gretchen.

Retention of the Personality with the Soul: When Gretchen emerged, she acted like a well-behaved young girl. Indeed, like in the Sharada | Uttara Huddar case, at times Gretchen did not seem to realize that she was dead. In some sessions, Gretchen thought that she was speaking to interviewers on the street near her home.

Change of Nationality and Religion: Gretchen was German, while Dolores was a citizen of the United States. Religious affiliation has also changed, as Gretchen was very much aligned with the Catholic Church and against the Protestant Reformation. In contrast, the Jays were Methodist, which grew out of the reformation movement in England.

Please note that the photographs provided above representing Carroll and Dolores Jay, as well as Gretchen’s father, are not historical images, rather, these are dramatizations.
